The Experience

Grapes droop lazily over the terrace, peach and plum trees melt into Apulian countryside, the pool invites a cool dip – this is a glorious Italian getaway. Michele and Mimma will greet you with an aperitif from the beautiful wine cellar or a delicious local cheese to nibble on.

Days are for wandering the streets filled with white houses, cycling the beautiful nature of Murge and visiting Cisternino – voted the most striking historic town in Italy. Wander the wonderful oak forests and fascinating terraces where the horizon meets the Adriatic Sea.

A lazy barbecue on the terrace, a snooze by the shady cedar, a splash in the shallow pool. You can request breakfast or dinner from Michele and Mimma or fire up the pizza oven. They know the best local markets, the must-try eateries in Cisternino town, and the beautiful spots on the Adriatic coast – a short drive.

Reviews

The hospitality, despite being self catering, here is wonderful, it's like being surrounded by a long lost Italian family if you want it to be, the hosts are friendly and relaxed, the trullo is comfortable and has everything you need plus the outside space; the pool, the paved and play area means you can make the most of the good weather months either side of the sizzling July and August.

We celebrated my 70th birthday year with the most wonderful and generous lovely couple and wish to thank Mimma and Michele for letting us use their wonderful Trullo! Everything was just super and we requested a meal on our first night in Puglia and were overwhelmed with the quality and service we received and cannot thank you both enough! Also the bottle of wine and tasty cherry tart was a very welcome treat! Trullo Giardino is everything We expected and was an amazing place to stay! We loved everything about the place and hope to return in the future! Grazie Miele Mimma and Michele xx

Tricia and Steve, Greater Manchester

A place that lives up to expectations and perfect for the two of us. Having exclusive use of the pool and garden is a major bonus and we enjoyed weather to match. Thanks also to Michele and Mimma for the welcome pack and wine and advice on local restaurants. Our meal at Sant' Anna in Cisternino was memorable.

John, Weymouth

What a wonderful place. Michele and Mimma are lovely hosts, helpful and welcoming but giving guests privacy. The little trulli is gorgeous (watch your head if you’re tall!). Beautiful gardens, pool area and terrace are a dream. We biked into cisternino through the lovely countryside. A really lovely stay and hope to go back soon!

I last wrote a review after our visit in September 2016. Don't know why I didn't add one for our visit in September 2017 ... it was just as good. Maybe even better because our stays here get better every year. This year was the tenth year in a row! We were here 08-22 September. This time with our daughter, her husband and our little grand-daughter (2 1/2 y/o). Naturally this was special. Little Gracie really enjoyed the pool with the surrounding flowers. She was entranced with the Trulli Coni - when she saw the wonderful lights all around she said the whole house was a Fairy-House! Grazie M+M!

A jewel of a place; utterly peaceful lieu, charming and warm owners, inspiring gardens and great pool area in which to unwind (particularly good for young children). Indoors is a little cosy and a touch tight (but then I'm 198cm and anyhow, one lives in the outdoor area). Well-kept, very clean and super well located at only a few minutes drive from lovely little towns, restaurants, supermarkets... The owners are exceptional and ready to help with their excellent recommendations. They even provided us with fruit from their garden and cooked us a memorable meal. Grazie Michele, Mimma

We had a fantastic stay. Mimma and Michele are fantastic hosts, wonderful friendly people. The trullo is such an interesting building and a really unique space to stay. The outside space and pool is the best we have experienced in any holiday accommodation. The cherries from the garden were delicious. Lovely peaceful place with lots of interesting towns close by. Excellent restaurants very close by. Would love to return.

We adored our trullo- like staying with exceptionally kind and hospitable relatives! It is quite isolated but a quick drive to a beautiful town. The pool and garden area are stunning and the house exceptionally cute. Very reasonable kitchen given the small space which was handy as we cooked every night for our small boys. They loved the trullo, the pool, the birds and the lizards in the garden. Have already recommended to friends!

Anna, Hertford

A totally magical place. Everything others write is true... generous and lovely owners; a lovely house; an amazing pool; wonderful small towns and unspoilt beaches to wander around. What we had not realised however was the wonderful countryside with easy walks from the house including the aqueduct path through fields of truli and at this time of year, orchids, gladioli, and other amazing wild flowers. We loved it so much that for the first time ever we have booked to stay again next year. Thank you so much mima and Michele for sharing this with us.

Sarah, Reading

The owners were incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful! We much enjoyed Mimma's occasional tortas and pasta. Thanks to you all.

Pat

Excellent villa - immaculately clean, blissfully quiet, charming location, stunning pool surrounded by manicured gardens with fresh fruit we were encouraged to eat, superb welcome by the owner Michele. Numerous places of interest to visit in the local area. 5 star! We would highly recommend and we shall return!

Mel, Milton Keynes

We spent our annual two week vacation again this year at Trullo Giardino. This is the 8th or 9th visit. We enjoy it so much here. We have seen the Garden develop year by year to the point where this year it was the most beautiful ever. So many flowers and fruit trees. Michele waters everything every day (starting quietly at 5 am to get it all done before the visitors wake up). The pool is perfect and always in perfect condition. A great joy is to pick sweet white peaches and yellow plums from the trees beside the pool. Michele and Mimma are wonderful hosts and treat us often with lovely meals.

Peter, Alford, Aberdeenshire

Trullo Giardino is a beautiful place to stay. Certainly no misnomer, the garden - and surrounding orchard of peach, plum, apricot and fig trees - is quite extraordinary. It's a remarkably peaceful place but only 10 minutes drive, mainly down country lanes, to lovely Cisternino (take a satnav!!). Michele and Mimma are lovely hosts - friendly, generous (with fruit, wine, a homemade tart, a lift to the supermarket, a loan of their Sky Sports card to watch the Euros!) yet unobtrusive. Pool is great and gazebo fabulous for shade and evening barbecues. Recommend wholeheartedly.

Richard, Hebden Bridge

We spend a wonderful and relaxing week in Trullo Giardino. The apartment is small but charming, clean and well equipped, and the grounds with the pool are beautiful and spacious. The nearby village Cisternino is well worth a visit. The owners Mimma and Michele were really nice, and we received lots of delicious treats from them during our stay. Thank you! We would very much recommend staying here and would love to visit again.

Julia, London

We spent a really wonderful week at Trullo Giardino. The setting is just perfect – peaceful, relaxed and secluded – while the swimming pool was the highlight for our little girls. The trullo itself is comfortable and cute, the owners are very hospitable and kind (we were supplied with incredible aperitivo, wine, pie and fruit), and the area in general is fascinating: there's a handful of pretty, interesting towns (Ostuni, Alberobello, Cisternino) as well as a beautiful coastline 20 minutes away with stunning beaches. All in all, the perfect holiday! Thank you, Michele and Mimma.

Lucy, Benenden

just returned after a lovely, relaxing week in trullo giardino. Beautiful setting, welcoming hosts. And so delightful to sit by the pool, reading a book, glass in hand and watching the swallows dipping into the pool water for a drink and a bath. So many restaurants to choose from - just in Cisternino alone. Lovely fresh produce also available in the friendly local supermercato. Good base for lots of touristics of this region if desired.

ann, tadley

We have just returned from this wonderful place. It really is as good as it looks. Perfect for a couple or a family of four( and the bedroom with two single beds can be made into a generous double) the kitchen is small but perfectly formed and generously equipped. The pool and poolside seating and eating area is utterly delightful. The trullo is situated on the rural outskirts of Cisternino and there is a good supermarket and baker who also sells wonderful cheese and cooked meats within a short drive. Really good restaurants in all of the delightful nearby towns. Can't recommend it enough.

Valerie

Lovely Trullo and wonderful hosts - so friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Fantastic welcome basket on arrival with lovely wine, cheese, bread and a homemade pie! Beautiful position away from it all but close to wonderful places to visit. Would love to return.

Ellie

We cannot recommend Trullo Giardino highly enough. The pool is fabulous - even better than the pictures and very family friendly. The accommodation is small but perfectly formed (and spotlessly clean). The location is wonderfully peaceful. Most importantly the hospitality - Mimma and Michele are the perfect hosts. Providing delicious breakfasts and dinners, they were discrete and yet available to help whenever we needed something, nothing was too much trouble. They are warm, generous and kind, they made us and our children very welcome. A fabulous 2 week family holiday - the best yet.

Nancy

Many thanks to Mimma and Michele for a wonderful stay at Trullo Giardino! The facilities are superb and very family friendly. Be sure to enjoy the outdoor dining terrace, and of course the incredible pool....
