As temperatures soar, you’re cooling off in the courtyard’s little pool, or under one of the six rain showers. A cool rustic minimalism runs through your Puglian masseria, where multiple farm families, and livestock, once lived together.
The bedrooms feed off the courtyard (some up, others down), a couple with tiny kitchens built into the rock. There’s no living room but there are two big sociable tables, one in the kitchen and the other outside close to large bright-cushioned benches and a pizza oven. If you don’t want to cook, stroll into Patù, to the owner’s simple, excellent restaurant.
The Ionian coast with crystal clear waters and long stretches of sand, is a ten-minute drive. Spend an idyllic day at Marina de San Gregio, and don’t miss Bar del Moro in one of the coves. The wine is local, the people friendly, and the fish straight from the sea.
