Masseria Le Fabriche

Maruggio, Taranto

Just the sound of the breeze as it rustles the vine leaves… and beautiful breakfasts, Alessia's wines, and long, dreamy, Puglian views

18 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 3

Welcome to the land of the crisp, dry ‘primitivo’ grape. Wooden wine barrels line the track that winds through a sea of olive trees and ends at Le Fabriche, right in the middle of a vineyard. The welcome is warm, the landscape is serene, the house is noble and 17th century. Inside, a series of small communal spaces have been lovingly restored, their mellow stone walls and vaulted ceilings a rustic backdrop for elegant, contemporary décor. Modernist velvet sofas face you in reception, along with crisp little tables, candles by fireplaces, unique ceramic pieces and a corner bar. The vibe is laid-back and easy, thanks to Alessia and her assistant Marilisa, warm, charming and lively. Alessia loves to cook for her guests and share her knowledge of Puglia’s food and wine: learn a thing or two at her tastings and classes. Bedrooms are housed in two long modern structures hiding in the olive groves – comfortable, sleek, with stone floors, natural colours and bathrooms to satisfy the most demanding of Italians; some have terraces. If you can bear to leave, the sea is three miles.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Sara .

  • We are in the Primitivo di Manduria DOC wine district, you can taste the wines from “Le Fabriche” and you can take a tour of the best wineries and farms.
  • Just 4km away you can discover the pure and wild shores of the Ionian Salento, crystal clear waters and fine sandy dunes covered by bushes of the “Mediterranean Bush”. Take a walk or ride a bike along the coast at sunset.
  • For a peaceful experience in nature, walk through the countryside along the paths dotted with ancient stone walls and enjoy the view of the majestic olive trees which are thousand years old, part of the Apulia history and an important resource of the area.
  • Visit the old towns of: Maruggio, town of the Knights of Malta; Manduria, a typical “Messapian” city that preserves an important archaeological site; or Grottaglie, the city of handmade pottery where you can buy unique pieces.
