Pop a couple of chairs outside the front door and sit like the locals in the evening sun. The House of the Swallows, restored in beach style, rests in the heart of a hillside village a seven-minute hop from the sea.
A man with a van toots twice a week and for proper shops you drive to Tresnuraghes, 2.5km. Put together a picnic and set off for the beaches. Turas Bay (5km) is perfect for surfers and pebble seekers, while Bosa Marina, with wide white sands and beach umbrellas, is fabulous for families.
Back home, the kitchen-dining room is excellently equipped and the ground-floor living room (one of two) is vaulted; this merchant’s house goes back 300 years. Eat in, or stroll down the road to Trattoria da Riccardo, where the food is simple and delicious (cash only).
