The
Experience

Pop a couple of chairs outside the front door and sit like the locals in the evening sun. The House of the Swallows, restored in beach style, rests in the heart of a hillside village a seven-minute hop from the sea.

A man with a van toots twice a week and for proper shops you drive to Tresnuraghes, 2.5km. Put together a picnic and set off for the beaches. Turas Bay (5km) is perfect for surfers and pebble seekers, while Bosa Marina, with wide white sands and beach umbrellas, is fabulous for families.

Back home, the kitchen-dining room is excellently equipped and the ground-floor living room (one of two) is vaulted; this merchant’s house goes back 300 years. Eat in, or stroll down the road to Trattoria da Riccardo, where the food is simple and delicious (cash only).

Reviews

A small quiet village, a functional and elegant house to return to every evening, a kind and helpful owner on the other side of the phone, the best food on earth and the most amazing beaches a short drive away...This is what made my stay perfect. Casa delle Rondini is well worth a visit!!

Location

The neighbourhood

Magomadas is a small hilly village 5km from the coast, with a post office, a church, a wine museum, and a trattoria. It also has a ‘panoramica’ with amazing views: the Modolo valley on one side, and the sea on the other. You won’t get bored of going to the beach every day: there are so many to discover. The nearest seaside town is multi-coloured Bosa, 8km; head for the wonderful old centre, Sa Costa.

Local points of interest from Gillian Reekie

  • Swallow house is in a quiet little borgo in the olive tree hillside in a village called magomadas a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city
  • Every Tuesday there is a local market in the town of Bosa, local products such as pecorino cheese fresh vegetables eggs and local wines and biscuits are all on sale so don't miss it!!
  • The surrounding villages are full of inateresting things to see Flusio is famous for it wine Malvasia and wicker baskets you can often see the old ladies sitting out of the street working away, Tinura on the other hand is famous for its "muralis"
  • White sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters you'll be spoilt for choice, close to home just to mention one is Putzu Idu a couple of restaurants with freshly caught fish and that's about it complete relax what more can you ask??
