The Experience

Sorso: small yet perfectly placed to explore this beautiful isle. Spend a day getting sandy toes on one of the beautiful beaches or explore the archaeological sites peppered throughout the region – visit the Pre-historic Nuraghe tower.

Breakfast is an unrushed ritual with delicious, personalised dishes from local ingredients. Start with homemade breads, yogurt and fruits before digging into Tirricas, Gueffas and Savoiardi Sardi – traditional Sardinian sweets.

Sorso is in good company sitting between Vermentino vineyards and olive groves, take a tour before heading to Il Cavalluccio for seafood spaghetti and sea views. Back home (and it feels like that) you have a choice of three common spaces to rest your bones. The rooftop is a great spot to daydream of your Sardinian holiday home.

Sardinia’s best-kept secret was shared with us by a Sawday’s regular – a short inspection later and we could see why they were so enthusiastic!

This lovely characterful home came highly recommended by Sawday's guests who knew it would be a perfect fit in the collection and they were so right! Giovanni and Cristina have personally created a very special space for guests to come home to after touring the awe-inspiring beauty of this corner of Sardinia. Their natural sense of hospitality and kindness makes a stay here more than memorable.

The neighbourhood

You’re in the middle of the square with the church a beautiful lead character. Sorso centre is small but the surrounding countryside is why you’re here. Take a trip to the nearby town of Castelsardo known for its artisan basket weavers; you’ll spot them working outside their homes. The area of La Romangia boasts many a winery; take a tour of the vineyards and sample your way through sunset.

Local points of interest from Cristina & Giovanni

  • Sorso is a hub for various local areas of interest in Northern Sardinia. It’s an energetic small town, not too touristy, 3km from the sea. We are at the heart of the historic centre and you will feel like a local.
  • Famous Sardinian beaches are 30 min away, but we will suggest some based on the direction of the wind, and the most undiscovered beautiful and desert ones in high season.
  • Leisurely drive towards the hamlet of Aggius, at the center of Valle della Luna della Gallura; stop at Il Mosto restaurant. With Mountain Limbara behind you, the long beach of Badesi is only 20 minutes away. You are now 10 minutes from Castelsardo.
  • Don’t miss a visit to Bosa, via panoramic secondary roads. Enjoy a malvasia in Campus bar, dive in the natural pool of Sas Covas. You’ll then reach Alghero via the most panoramic route accompanied by the sunset over Capo Caccia.
  • You are 10 minutes from the prehistoric altar of Monte D’Accoddi. It’s 20 minutes to the Basilica di Saccargia, starting point for a tour of Romanesque churches, small jewels of the XII century.
  • Don’t miss a visit to the mining hamlet of Argentiera, only 40km away. Have a swim in the sea of the hamlet’s beach and then stroll through the ruins of the mine enriched by art installation thanks to the mining museum en plein air MAR.

Cristina & Giovanni

Giovanna and Cristina are the kind of people you can’t imagine doing anything else - they make running a B&B a breeze. They’ve devoted over 15 years to this special place and it oozes charm and character. Born and raised Sardinians, over a long and indulgent breakfast they’ll share their island secrets. For the most, they’ll leave you be but they’re only over the square if you need them.
