Loredana’s place has been beautifully restored with spacious bedrooms and a shared common room – you’ll find a welcome hamper filled with pastries and fruit, and bikes to borrow.
Breakfast is served at separate tables on the terrace (gorgeous in summer, heated in winter) with long views over the Porta Nuova, Royal Palace roof garden, cathedral dome and Monte Pellegrino. Fill up on Sicilian pastries, local cheeses and hams, eggs, yogurt and freshly-squeezed orange juice.
You’re in a pedestrianised area so walk or safely cycle to restaurants and downtown bars and cafes; La Galleria and I Cucci are good choices. Driver Francesco can collect you from the airport or take you to Monreale with a bit of notice.
