Palazzo Lungarini Holiday Lettings

Bed & Breakfast

Luna’s apartment in this superb palazzo is pretty, personal and welcoming. She is a mine of information and serves brilliant breakfasts

6 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 7

The Notarbartolo di Sciara family, an aristocratic dynasty, have lived in this 16th-century palazzo in Palermo since the 1970s. After renovating her apartment, your young and enthusiastic host, Luna, discovered that she loves welcoming visitors, telling them the secrets of Palermo and the wider Sicilian scene, and serving fabulous breakfasts. She will delight you with the white-clothed table spread with antique silver and heirloom china, local pastries and Sicilian specialities. Her welcoming, old-fashioned living room tells her story. A mix of family furniture echoes the city’s layers of history; you’ll find a contemporary glass coffee table beneath a 1930s kimono (a gift to her grandmother from the Japanese ambassador), family photos in silver frames, old prints and Luna’s library of art books, a fine copy of an original fresco found in the palace – and a side table of drinks: help yourselves. There is space, colour, comfort. The bedrooms give onto the peace of an elegant courtyard with its mulberry tree and baroque fountain; they are cosy and restful, perfect after exciting days spent exploring the endless riches of the city.

Stepping into the Palazzo courtyard was amazing - so tranquil! Then up the stairs to the beautiful apartment - spotlessly clean with lovely furniture and decoration. Our private shower room was just 2 steps across the hallway from our bedroom. Breakfast was served for all guests by Caterina on the beautifully laid table in the living room, and as well as fruit and juice, we always had specialities from Palermo. Luna joined us daily to give suggestions - where to go, to eat, & to drink and we followed her advice many times. The apartment was very close to the train and bus station. <3

This B&B is located in the heart of old Palermo with easy access on foot to most places of interest and to a wide variety of restaurants and bars. It is on the second floor of a palazzo with rooms overlooking an attractive, quiet central courtyard. The rooms are comfortable, large and well-furnished. Breakfasts are generous and varied. Luna is a knowledgeable and energetic hostess. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was excellent value for money. We have no hesitation recommending it to others.

We stayed at Palazzo Lungarini for one week and enjoyed it immensely- it was a fantastic base from which to explore the fascinating historical centre of Palermo.Luna is very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable host, without whom we would have missed some of the stunning hidden gems in the local area . The appartment was spacious, clean and well equipped for our stay- it is located in a beautiful Palazzo in a peaceful location with easy access to shops and markets as well as restaurants/bars. In short, perfect for us.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Luna Figurelli

  • The famous church and piazza of San Francesco d'Assisi and the stunning Oratory of San Lorenzo next door, are only at half a minute walk.
  • Piazza Marina, with its huge Ficus Macrophilla trees in the Garibaldi Gardens on one hand, and on the other the stunning Mediaval Palazzo Steri with its later inquisition prison, are only down the road. Flea market and great people watching on Sundays.
  • The churches of Spasimo and Magione, Piazza Kalsa, the Botanical Gardens and Villa Giulia park, can highlight a-couple-of-hours, easy walking tour around our area, with loads other attractions, as well as nice little cafes and pictoresque trattorias
  • Palazzo Mirto down the street, the maiolica museum 'Stanze al Genio', and the puppet Museum are off of the beaten track attractions, definitely worth a visit, and at a couple of minutes from ours
  • The historical market Vuccuria, painted and photographed by many artists, is at 3 minutes walk, the bigger and livelier Ballarò may be a little further (10 min!), but it is on the way towards to Royal Palace, two must-see in Palermo!
  • Restaurants & bars for all tastes are all around & even at 1 min distance. The old trattoria Ferro di Cavallo, at 5 mins, is family-run, serves delicious local food that taste as if made by a Sicilian granny in her house, it is cheap & definitely cheerful!
