The Experience

This historic property sits on flat agricultural land and used to be the centre of a huge farming estate dating from the late 1700s, much of which is still in ruins. The garden backs onto a country road and there’s only one other house nearby.

The house sleeps six but there’s plenty of entertaining space. The large kitchen is well-set up for cooking and eating together, and there’s further seating at the back of the house, along with an outdoor oven. Choose from two sitting rooms – downstairs with a lovely tiled fireplace or the vast one upstairs with countryside views.

The house is half-way between Marzamemi (7km) and Rosolini (8km), which both offer plenty of choice for restaurants – Taverna la Cialoma in Marzamemi has amazing sea views. Spend days out wine-tasting in nearby estates or head to the beach; return for a dip in the swimming pool, set in the quietest part of the property.

Reviews

This place has a special atmosphere, the one that comes from a grand old family tradition and it also translates in the decor. I loved the swimming pool which is the quietest part of the property and the one most connected with nature.

Location

The neighbourhood

Nearby Pachino has a central piazza, a church and a range of shops and restaurants. Important wine estates in the area include Planeta and Marabino, and beaches include Vendicari (15 minutes by car), the golden sands at Granelli and one of Sicily’s prettiest villages, Marzamemi. Marzamemi is also known for its small but interesting film festival in September.

Introducing

Domenico Bonaccorsi

Domenico Bonaccorsi comes from one of Sicily’s oldest families and his wife, who is an architect, created the interiors. He isn't usually on hand to greet guests so you'll meet Evelyn, who is Mexican-Sicilian.
