Welcoming family home in traditional style; airy rooms, organic farm produce, mesmerising terrace views. Be part of the locals’ scene

Rooms sleep 2 – 3

It’s definitely not the loveliest of areas but a big surprise lies behind this modest Sicilian villa; a huge terrace with knock-out views over a beautiful rocky coastline and a romantic, gleaming-white lighthouse. Chances are you’ll spend much of your time here, drifting and dreaming. Perched on a small hill, the house is unpretentious and homely. Help yourself to breakfast from the well-stocked fridge; much of the produce comes from Giuseppe’s family’s organic farm or the small vegetable garden below the villa. Giuseppe – laid-back and unfussy – also prepares a welcoming dinner. Eat on the terrace or in the sunny kitchen. Rooms are simple and traditional in style – tiled floors, shuttered windows, high ceilings – and furnished with well-loved family treasures. One bedroom has a balcony, the other a handsome desk; both have lovely sea-views. This area is a buzzing place in summer; light sleepers might prefer the quieter, family room. If you can drag yourself from the hammock on the terrace, there’s Mount Etna (Giuseppe arranges tours), swimming and watersports (free kayaks). Plus great seafood restaurants on your doorstep. This is living with the locals, and it’s fun.

An ideal location from which to visit the splendid sites of NE Sicily. The house is 100 yards from the sea, set back from the seafront. Our room was spacious and well furnished in line with the style of the house. En suite bathroom and shared kitchen were much appreciated, as was the very large terrace, ideal for drinks late in the day or even your evening meal. There is a beautiful garden and parking area to complete the layout. Giuseppe (and his friendly dog Augusto) are the most delightful hosts you could find and will assist you in all ways. A memorable experience and highly recommended.

Alessandra, Turin

The villa, more than 100 years years old, was rustic and just a short walk to the beach. There are just two bedrooms, each with an ensuite, a shared kitchen and sitting room. We had a spacious room with a large bed, all very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed a high level terrace which had the sun all day and looked out on the Ionian Sea. At breakfast we simply helped ourselves to ample supplies of milk, cheese, ham, fruit and yogurts, cereals and fruit filled croissant, tea and coffee and it was such a treat to eat breakfast each morning on the terrace. Highly recommended.

Lona, Southampton

Primo Passo excelled beyond our expectations for a quiet, tastefully renovated and picturesque base for exploring Sicily. Guiseppe was a charming and informative host, providing a delicious extremely late night arrival dinner and plentiful breakfasts on the gorgeous terrace, even including gluten free options. We swam in the crystal clear coves just a few steps from the villa, ate in several local trattoria and ristorante and enjoyed walking around the scenic headland. We Thoroughly recommend Primo Passo and are planning to return.

Louise, Sydney

This is a lovely house and Giuseppe a charming host who speaks excellent English. I found it by chance when looking for a place to stay near the airport, however you can happily stay for longer, and other guests have done so. Close to the rocky shore, with a wonderful view from the sea-facing room, the house and garden took our breath away. Giuseppe cooked us a beautiful dinner and recommended a small and simple 'Chioscietto' in Brucoli for lunch the next day, which was delightful. We would definitely return if we are in the area again and are considering ordering his new harvest olive oil
