The villa is set on a hillside surrounded by olive trees and with long views down to the sea. Claudia and her father manage the property and will greet you warmly with coffee or bruschetta depending on what time you arrive.
Help yourself to produce from the small vegetable garden and cook for yourselves – the well-equipped kitchen leads to a dining area on the shaded back terrace – or you can use the barbecue in the garden. Noto, 3.5 km away, has good restaurants and shops and is renowned for its Sicilian Baroque buildings made from local honey-coloured stone.
Vendicari Nature Reserve, a 20-minute drive, has sandy beaches, walking trails and migratory birds including flamingos. A little further south, the fishing village of Marzamemi has seafood restaurants set around the town square. Return for a refreshing dip in the large swimming pool.
