The
Experience

Great for discovering western Sicily, and beyond! Ferries leave here for Tunisia, the Egadi archipelago and Pantelleria. The urban sprawl is swiftly forgotten in the narrow streets of the beautifully restored historic centre (the highest part of the city) where gracious hosts, Maurizio and Lidia, have fashioned this attractive apartment in a three-storey building (there’s a lift) with 16th-century origins and a gated courtyard. From here views soar over rooftops and domes to the sea and Mount Erice. Inside is bright and modern with varnished wood floors and striking local artwork, fabric, coral and ceramics. Plenty of clear glass, mirrors and chrome, white and beige tones, and colour splashes in red chairs and rich oriental rugs. The top floor has wraparound views from the smart kitchen. The two full bathrooms have walk-in rain showers; there’s a sitting room sofabed and a comfortably compact main bedroom. And there’s icing: a roof terrace with potted palms, oleanders, flowers and herbs – stunning for a sunset aperitivo and a softly-lit dinner (a local restaurant delivers…)

Reviews

The photos on Sawday's don't do justice to Lida's lovely apartment - it's much bigger than expected with various sitting rooms plus the outdoor space (we failed to use due to rain in May!) Very comfortable, all mod cons, good views and some lovely artworks around the apartment. Extremely well located in the centre of Trapani old town with its plethora of fantastic fish restaurants! Nearby is the best patisserie in the region! Parking is at some distance & negotiating the narrow alleys by car to drop off luggage a bit hair raising.
