The Experience

Peace reigns – the only sounds you’ll hear are birdsong, the hum of crickets and the babbling of the Ciuffenna river that runs along the boundary of this pretty, higgledy-piggledy group of buildings.Simple and traditional, each property is full of comfort and rural charm. This quiet backwater presents a stress-free way to get to grips with ever-popular Tuscany – there’s time and space to relax and recharge, with hammocks dotted around in the shade, meadows and the river to explore and a glorious pool to cool off in.You get your own private patio too so you can be just as sociable as you want. Arkadia, the charity that helps in the maintenance of this place, hosts a team of young people each weekday morning who help tend the grounds – the gardens are a credit to them.

Accommodation

Reviews

Beautiful spot, somewhere hidden in the more unknown part of Tuscany. Away from the busy tourism, close to beautiful silent and typical Italian beauty towns like Loro Ciuffenna and Borro. We have been cycling with electric bikes in through the Chianti hills, walked in the mountains and visited a festival in Arezzo, a not to crowded touristic town full of beauty and locals who enjoy their live in the historical center. Great communication with the host Claudia, helpful and very kind, also the educational team is lovely to experience. Very good price/quality balance!

The neighbourhood

You’re deep in olive oil and wine country here. You’ll find unpretentious shops and restaurants three kilometres away in the medieval hill town of Loro Ciuffenna. This is the gateway to the Pratomagno mountains for meandering walks through ancient villages and hidden vineyards. Arezzo, Siena and Florence can be reached in about an hour – ideal for a day trip. Claudia can help plan walks, wine tastings and horse riding.

Introducing

Claudia Pietrini

Delightful and enthusiastic Claudia welcomes guests to the property and helps them find their feet. She’s on hand all day to give help and advice, and her office is bursting with books, brochures and maps should you need them. The Guasconi family ran the Molino for forty years before gifting its profits to Arkadia, and their villa is tucked away nearby.
