The Experience

Standing on a hill with sweeping views of Umbrian hills and the village of Monterchi, this traditional Tuscan farmhouse is a gem. There’s room for the whole family across three floors of homely living spaces, comfortable bedrooms and cosy nooks and crannies, with an adjoining apartment available if needed (only rented with the main house).

It’s the outside space that will seduce you; leap into the infinity pool and swim amongst the hills, dry off under a pergola of sweet scented jasmine and take in the glorious framed views of Monterchi. Explore terraced gardens full of wisteria, lavender and rose arches; crisscrossing footpaths lead the way to secret shady spots.

Whip up al fresco meals in the summer kitchen (there’s a pizza oven too) and eat under the stars – having the pool house to hand is a huge boon for big outdoor dinners. Stunning medieval Monterchi and Piero della Francesca’s famous artwork is just three kilometres away.

What a wonderful place! Very aptly named by the hosts as "Angolo de Paradiso". We stayed for a glorious week at the end of August and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular views, the wonderful welcome of Janette and Danny and the relaxing pool area. There is such a lot to do in the area too, including beautiful Monterchi only a couple of kilometres away, home to the Madonna del Parto by Piera della Francesca. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

My wife and 2 young kids spent a glorious week in this classic Tuscan location, straight out of a postcard. Our rooms were v comfortable with en-suite (change of pillow was offered to me - nice!), with a well-equipped and spacious kitchen and dining area, numerous verandas for more alfresco eating, breathtaking views and, to top it all, a gorgeous swimming pool. The owners were on hand when my daughter screamed (gecko in her bath) and also to guide us on a couple of days out (Sienna & Cortona). They even arranged for an authentic pizza-oven lunch. We will be back - it's just too nice not to.

The neighbourhood

This area of Tuscany bordering on Umbria is unique for being off the beaten tourist track and is a region of gentle hills, dotted with stone farm houses, cypresses, olive groves and vineyards. The nearest little town is Monterchi, 3 km away, where you’ll find shops, restaurants and a museum containing the Madonna del Parto by Piero della Francesca – a painting people trek from all over the world to view.
