The Experience

This is well-named: Locanda Alberi is immersed in trees. And the names of the apartments reflect them: mediterranean oak, cork oak, chestnut, cypress, cherry, olive, and pine. The restored building that houses these sparkling flats dominates the hamlet, hence the spaciousness of each retreat.

Start the day at a table outside: a basket of local goodies can be delivered to your door. Or stride up the hill to Sassetta, for breakfast under the tree at Bar Roma. The tiny medieval streets will enchant you.

Bask on the terrace, dip into the pool, or book a guided wine tour. Delightful Lucia – or Noemi the house manager – will be there to greet you every day, happy to suggest itineraries. In half an hour, you and your children can be on the sand beaches of San Vincenzo.

Reviews

This is the place to go for a restorative break from everything and Lucia's passion for the Val di Cornia is contagious. She will show you the way into a slow and authentic world where guests take walks within chestnut and cork forests, soak in the thermal waters within the woods, explore small ancient villages standing still in time and marveling at the beauty of this untouched corner of Tuscany

Location

The neighbourhood

Scenic well-signed trails radiate from the leafiness that surrounds you. You can drive (or stride) up the hill to Sassetta, for provisions, pastries and cappuccino. The quality of the organic produce in Tuscany’s small villages is outstanding. Book a meal at La Piazzetta, or under the great oak of Bar Roma - or at Podere La Cerrata, the restaurant attached to the exquisite thermal baths. Use the guest discount and avoid peak times.

Local points of interest from Lucia Guidoni

  • The Etruscan coast is characterised through its parks and nature reserves that are accessible all through the year. You can choose between trails for capable walkers or tracks suitable for the less energetic and groups of children.
  • The Etruscan coast is also a land of ancient cycling traditions, champions and important races. Don't miss the road that connects Sassetta to Suvereto, the setting for a beautiful historic race the ’99 curves’.
  • We offer a programme that involves spending time with an animal, for “experts”, and also those who would like to get to know horses. We can provide our guests with a a list of the best places to go for a ride.
  • From Sassetta you can reach the lovely beaches of Marina di Castagneto in only 20 minutes; a bit further are Rimigliano, Baratti, La Sterpaia and Torre Mozza, that are part of the Park in the Cornia Valley.
  • For a holiday dedicated to wellness and relaxation we can recommend three different places in the nearby area: The Thermal Baths in Sassetta, the small thermal lake Calidario in Venturina and the Biolago del Sasso Pisano
  • Locanda degli Alberi is the gateway to exceptional cultural walks and places: Parchi della Val di Cornia where for instance there is the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, the Museum in Piombino, the Archaeological-mineral Park in Campiglia Mari
