Immersed in nature – fairytale forests, streams, natural pools – are two large houses linked by a farm track and a pathway through the vines. Each sleeps 12 and invites all ages. Choose the classic 18th-century Casa dell’Angelo or the warren-like haybarn Torrentello, sitting on a wedge of land bordered by grass terraces sloping to streams (have a splash!). Decorated by English owners, each house exudes an elegant rusticity: uncluttered spaces with open fireplaces, white linen curtains sweeping to polished boards, big modern art, stylish sofas. Each has a beautiful pool: Torrentello’s with a slide into a plunge pool below; Angelo’s a step away from a rustic candlelit bar. Kitchens are large and perfectly equipped, Angelo’s with a long wide farmhouse table and colourful crockery, Torrentello’s open-plan with handsome ceiling rafters in true old barn style. Bedrooms are painted in soft beiges and blues, very pleasing to the eye; bathrooms are gorgeous. All this is managed by the charming Loris, on hand to meet and greet, and to keep the grounds immaculate. He even marks out footpaths for hikers.
