The Experience
Enjoy a leisurely lunch on the big covered loggia, at a table that seats 14. Vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, and all you hear are the birds. Play football with the kids, bask by the pool, relax on the balcony, and drink in the views. Or hop in the car for Siena.
This gated property sits on a hillock surrounded by private olive groves. In farmhouse style, living spaces and bedrooms – all bar one – lie upstairs. There’s a handy summer kitchen off the terrace, and two apartments in the annexe, airy, charming, and secluded.
The walled World Heritage City of Siena is unmissable – not only for the glorious Duomo. At its heart is the Piazza Il Campo, known for the famous Palio, a centuries-old, one-minute horse race. On the medieval streets off the square, family-run restaurants abound.

Location
The neighbourhood
In a rolling Tuscan landscape, this farmhouse is a minute’s stroll from the hamlet of Lornano, and an exceptional family-run Bottega whose very short menu changes daily. 2km away is the remote winery Tenuta Villa Trasqua, with seasonal tours, tastings and a restaurant. Also close is one of the most unique fortified villages of Tuscany... 13th-century Monteriggioni is a 15-minute drive.
Introducing
Francesco Poggianti
The Anselmi family, who live in Siena, will welcome you. You'll either meet Cecilia, ex fashion lecturer, and Franco, retired engineer, or sons Francesco and Alessandro. All are delightful, all go out of their way to make guests feel at home. A gardener comes once a week.
I loved the fact that you can enjoy a stay in Chianti Classico area at its best and still walk to a delicious dinner at La Bottega in sleepy Lornano, or to the Trasqua agriturismo and campsite for a wine tasting. Everywhere you turn you see vineyards, vineyards, vineyards. And yet you are only 20 minutes from Piazza del Campo in Siena! a real treat.
