The Experience
The beautifully restored farmhouse looks out over fields and farms to the villages of Solomeo and Corciano, with Perugia in the distance… you couldn’t find a better spot from which to discover Tuscany and Umbria. Distant church bells, the hum of a tractor, the bray of a donkey… yet you’re only 5km from the superstrada. Lino and Australian Megan, are a delightful and hospitable pair, who help guests enjoy every aspect of their stay. Hunt for truffles in autumn – or cashmere in Solomeo! – book up an occasional cookery course – or a smart chef! – or take advantage of a personalised tour. Of the three apartments, ground-floor Gelsomino (sleeps four) has bunk beds in its living room and a marvellous terrace. Il Sole is a dear little retreat, also with a terrace and views; and Le Rose is even cosier, again furnished with country style charm. For a family, the cottage at the end of the garden is the best, a marvellous mix of recycled beams and terracotta tiles, open fire, air con, and jacuzzi. A saltwater pool with glorious views is set into the hill just above; on the other side is Lake Trasimeno.

We have just returned from a wonderful four night stay at Villa Rosa. Megan and Lino are fabulous hosts - very hospitable, welcoming and always on hand to assist with any queries, tips and information. Villa Rosa is in a fabulous location and provides a great base to explore Umbria. We felt at home the moment we arrived; our cottage was immaculately presented with lovely little touches - wine in the fridge, fresh flowers, herbs from the garden, a bowl of fresh fruit and Baci chocolates on the beds! We highly recommend this property to all those wanting a country retreat with unbelievable views

We stayed at Villa Rosa for a week at the end of April. It was such a beautiful place to be, high on a hill overlooking the stunning views of Umbria. There was myself, my Husband and our 9 year old Son, who made friends with the owners daughter - so it was great he had someone his age there. We entered the lovely farm style house which had fresh flowers, fruit, fresh herbs from the garden, a bottle of wine in the fridge and chocolates on our beds! The house was very private, clean and spacious. Great hosts, a great base in Umbria, close to lots of wonderful places - would love to go back!

Wow what a lovely welcome we got from Lino and Megan. You are made to feel at home. Relaxing by the sparkling clean pool is idyllic! Our kids 11 & 14 also loved it. Lino would often make pizza and bring it out to offer to us. The countryside around is beautiful, from our patio we had a view of Perugia in the distance. We stayed in the house for 6 which is charming. I would highly recommend this lovely place to stay for young or old. It was a perfect ending to our stay in Italy. We will be back!

We, mother with two sons and a daughter in law, enjoyed the most wonderful forthnight in Casetta Rosa. After a tiresome trip by car and arriving far later than expected we were warmly welcomed by Megan and Nino, who shared their delicious home made meal with us. The Casetta is well equipped and each night we were happy to return to enjoy the swimming pool, having drinks followed by dinner on the lovely terrace after a day of enjoying beautiful Umbria. Lino and Megan are always there to give all the information/home grown vegetables you need for an enjoyable stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Local points of interest from Megan & Lino Rialti
- Villa Rosa backs onto a lovely wood. Take a leisurely stroll through the forest to the very top of the hill. There you will be rewarded by a 360 ° view of the area - Lake Trasimeno on one side and Perugia and Assisi in the distance on the other.
- Lake Trasimeno is a short drive (7 kilometres) from Villa Rosa. Catch a ferry over to the island - Isola Maggiore - there's a sweet little village boasting a few excellent restaurants specialised in freshwater fish.
- Perugia is not just a charming hilltop town, but hosts many interesting festivals - including Umbria Jazz is July and Eurochocolate (yum!) in October.Avoid traffic by parking at the stadio and catching the monorail into town.
- Within 5 kilometres of Villa Rosa there are may little hill towns to visit. Corciano is a very pretty village which holds many fairs during the year , Solomeo is a jewel famous for its knitwear and Agello has a breathtaking view of Lake Trasimeno.
- Assisi, Gubbio, Montefalco, Bevagna, Todi, Spello, Montepulciano, Pienza, Perugia, Orvieto, Arezzo, Siena and Spoleto are all easy day trips from Villa Rosa. Even Rome and Florence are doable in a day if you're feeling energetic!
- Book in for a tour of the Perugina chocolate factory. It's only a 15 minute drive from Villa Rosa. There are a few tours in English most weeks, a generous tasting area and a shop full of tempting treats - you'll never find fresher Baci chocolates!

What a lovely place! Amazing views, very peaceful, lovely pool, warm welcome from Lino and Meghan (complete with dinner with the family!). Apartment cool in the height of summer, kitchen very well equipped. There's a good restaurant ten minutes walk away, and Perugia just 20 minutes drive away. If it sounds like your thing then don't hesitate.
