The kitchen is big enough for everybody to join in and help and you can all fit round the wooden dining room table if you want to eat indoors.You’re in the foothills of the largest mountain range in Portugal where natural parks and river beaches (some with bars) are plentiful. Swim in cool waters, hike nature trails, cycle for miles or visit incredibly tranquil villages including sleepy Fruimes above you.
Latas Country House is an intoxicating, spacious, beautifully-designed home, oozing character and charisma, set in an unsung part of Portugal. Our family of 12 had acres of room, yet there are many brilliant social spaces to gather around. Rita is a truly wonderful host (as is her charming 2 year old daughter) organizing family yoga and kayak trips. The pool is huge, the kitchen rocks, the bedrooms radiate atmosphere and Rita's unassuming style. Nearby Penacova has a stunning river beach and cafes overlooking the gorge, not to mention a very handy Lidl. Overall, it's a dreamy place to stay.
