The Experience
Two fine townhouses have been combined to form a gracious hotel in the authentic and lively Ribeira district, a block from the Douro River and only a few minutes’ walk from churches, museums and excellent shopping.
The bedrooms are magnificent, with high ceilings, loads of space, and luxe bathrooms built into the room in a theatrical style. Breakfast is memorable, too: coffee from a state-of-the-art machine, freshly-squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit salad cut in tiny portions to resemble glass beads, soft-boiled eggs, homemade orange jam and a delicious spiced apple puree… as well as bread and croissants and excellent pastel de nata.
Marianne and her friendly team brim with suggestions on places to eat, but start at the hotel restaurant for a short menu of French bistro-style cuisine with a Portuguese influence, plus delicious wines and live fado music concerts held on the back terrace in the summer months.

A fabulous place to stay - walking distance from the riverside and the Luís I Bridge, which you can cross to get to the Jardim do Morro hilltop park to enjoy a sundowner and the most glorious views over Porto. Our room had a wonderful airy Mediterranean vibe and a bathroom to die for. We loved the restaurant setting with the French-Portuguese fusion and a view into the busy kitchen. I would not hesitate to stay here again on another trip to Porto.

I spent two days and nights in this handsome townhouse hotel. Everything was perfect, the gorgeous rooms and bathrooms, delicious meals, local wines, adorable staff and the location. It must be the best value of any hotel I have every stayed at. An absolute jewel of a special place!

Location
The neighbourhood
The Igreja de São Francisco, with its incomparable Gothic panelling, is about 20 minutes’ walk and you’re only five minutes from Via Catarina for traditional Portuguese bookshops and clothes shops. Museums include the Palácio das Artes, which features young artists, and the Museu Soares dos Reis, which has an impressive collection of paintings and sculptures.
It is another very tasteful renovation that maintains comfort and charm. The rooms are very well equipped and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is delicious, again served at your table, fresh fruit, juice a variety of breads croissants and cake, jams all of the best quality..coffee as you like it, eggs cooked to order and a very special basket of gluten free breads and cake for my partner. The staff go out of their way to make you feel relaxed.
