The Experience

In the grounds of the grand 300-year-old manor are these modern apartments; a stunning blend of contemporary architecture and tradition. Old stone walls, contemporary glass panels and modern art personify a minimalist chic. Splashes of colour contrast with dark antiques, striped silks hang above fine old beds, and neutral colours blend with beams, granite, terracotta and painted shutters.

Baskets, blankets, ceramics and tall glass vases filled with petals add character; bathrooms have deep baths and hand-painted tiles. A woollen cushion on a carved bench, burning incense, a silk-clad mannequin – all contribute to the serenity of this place. Start the day with breakfast delivered to your terrace: hams, cheeses, fresh bread and pastries, homemade jams.

Borrow bikes, stroll vineyards and woodlands, rest on wooden sun loungers by the pool. For dinner, the chef can serve a special 3-course meal at the main house for groups of eight or more; you can drive 10 minutes to good restaurants, or request a pre-cooked meal to heat up in your cottage.

Reviews

When you arrive you will feel invaded by the tranquility and silence of the place that is surrounded by vines and forest, You will also find a generous smile and feel the kindness of an excellent team. Each accommodation unit is rustically decorated, combining the modernity of some architectural details. A unique experience, between the countryside and the beach!

Patricia, Sawday's Inspector

Beautiful secluded villas in woodland in the grounds of an attractive quintessentially Portuguese country house in wooded grounds and views over the hills - lovely swimming pool.

Location

The neighbourhood

It feels very peaceful and private here but you're near to everything. There is a trail within the estate and through the forest - maps provided. Massage can be arranged, or a picnic, wine tastings and even a sailboat ride on the Lima river. There are shops for stocking up within 10 to 12kms and the Espigueiro restaurant is 10 minutes by car and an hour on foot. The beaches are 12kms, Porto 69.

Local points of interest from João & Ana Luisa Magalhães Couto

  • Surrounded by an exuberant green and a deep silence, the Quinta presents a curious mix of the purest Minho tradition and a risky creative approach combining comfort, well being, sophistication and contemporaneity.
  • A property with 7ha, a forest and vineyards to stroll, swimming pool and a great mix between the old and the new arquitecture!
  • The 3 major experiences that we recommend are: the gastronomic route, the cultural and sports…Gastronomy: in this area you can experience high-quality restaurants, including fish, the sea bass cooked with seaweed…
  • On the cultural route, visit the historical centre of Viana, Ponte de Lima, Guimarães and Braga, if you look for a day trip go to Santiago de Compostela or Oporto.
  • Rafting on the Rio Minho and Mouro, trekking in the mountains of Arga and the National Park Peneda-Gerês, golf in the 3 fields that are less than 30 minutes of our Quinta, 10 min to kart, tennis and the best beaches for the practice of windsurfing, surfing
  • Only 40 min from Oporto Airport!
