The Experience

This elegant house is tucked away at the end of a track lined with cork and eucalyptus trees and feels very secluded, but the quaint town of Monchique is just a five-minute drive and you can walk to two restaurants in 10 minutes.

Find plenty of different areas to spread out in – a sitting room with games, books and an open fire, a terrace overlooking the magnificent garden, which rolls down towards distant views of the sea. Orange and lemon trees add heavenly aromas, and you’ll find a tennis court, heated pool and summer kitchen, as well as a vine-covered seating area to the side of the house.

This part of the Algarve is peaceful and the hills above Monchique are a protected natural reserve with trails you can hike or bike. The beach is 30 minutes away or you can drive to the Costa Vicentina in an hour, for more beaches and wilder surf.

Our time at The Pink House was like a fantasy. Each morning waking up to those incredible views from our bedrooms; strolling through the blossom laden gardens that went on and on, picking fruit and vegetables as we strolled felt like a dream. Our days were filled with exploring the coastal towns and charming Monchique... and in the evening we would have dinner on the luxurious patio enjoying the twinking lights of those towns, and recounting our day over a glass of wine with the occasional shooting star. Our favorite days were just spent at the house enjoying all it had to offer.

The neighbourhood

The long-distance hiking trail 'Via Algarviana', which starts in Sagres in the south-west and ends at the Spanish border, passes by the Pink House and will take you into the mountains. Nearby Monchique has quaint cobbled streets and a central square lined with cafes and restaurants from which you can watch the bustle of local daily life. As well as restaurants, the town has a butcher and a wine shop.

Situated in one of the most picturesque areas of Portugal, the beautiful Algarve mountains, the Pink House is set above sea level with stunning views of the coast. The house itself is surrounded by a beautifully established western facing garden.
The house itself is surrounded by manicured lawns, olive and citrus trees and features an outdoor heated pool, tennis court and secluded garden house. This oasis sleeps 8 people comfortably, featuring three double/twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.
An idyllic retreat for those requiring a tranquil break with friends or family. The perfect spot to access and explore the beaches of Southern and Western Portugal. From the house there are many long walks…. Enjoy your days exploring the mountain.
The peace of the garden and pool offer total relaxation and every effort has been made to make your stay as comfortable as possible, there are numerous armchairs, sunbeds and mattresses for soaking up the sun.
For those requiring a restful holiday, the comfort and beauty of the Pink House is as near to paradise, winter and summer, as you can get.

Amanda and Nick live in the UK but come over to enjoy the house for their own holidays too. Friendly Lucilla who lives locally keeps the house shipshape. She’s also happy to cook meals for you given a bit of notice.
