White Hart - Pub in Bath & N.E. Somerset
Widcombe Hill, Bath, BA2 6AA, Bath & N.E. Somerset
England,
United Kingdom
A short walk from Bath Spa station, in mellow stone Widcombe, this big imposing pub has a pleasant courtyard garden for supping summer pints. With its reputation as one of the best places to eat in town, it still feels pubby, with a jolly bar, a pleasingly plain dining room and a mixed bag of tables. On rugby day it heaves, as pints of Butcombe Bitter and RCH Pitchfork are downed. Chef Rupert Pitt has worked in some of Bath's best restaurants and his menu is short and to the point, with five starters and mains. The food, well-priced and following the seasons, is delicious. Try the guinea fowl wrapped in bacon with roasted carrots and beetroot, or fillet of sea bream with runner beans, samphire and brown shrimps, or pan-fried goat's cheese and sundried tomato risotto cake. Heaven.
