The Pump House - Pub in Bristol
Merchants Road, Hotwells, Bristol, BS8 4PZ, Bristol
England,
United Kingdom
Meander through Bristol’s boatyards and find this grand ex-Victorian pumping station, with chef Toby Gritten at the helm. Inside: cool stone floors, high ceilings and big arched windows frame gorgeous harbour views. Local guest beers and ales abound behind the bar, but it’s the gins that really pack a punch: there are over 400! Just ask the cool, young bar staff to guide your choosing. Upstairs it’s both formal and fun; foodies travel far and wide to sample the tasting menu. Try seared Brixham scallops with sweetcorn and chicken wings, belly of suckling pig pork with apples, leeks and coco beans, then finish with a Tahitian vanilla brûlée. In summer, catch some rays out on the lavender-framed courtyard, tuck into a hearty ploughman's, watch the boats sail past, and see how many famous landmarks you can spot. The SS Great Britain and M Shed are close.
