Belgian waffles, seafood platters, Cornish cider – all taste marvellous from a cool ocean liner overlooking the sea. Bring the family!

Poised above the cliff edge to a backdrop of rolling fields and hikers' trails (an inspiring setting for platefuls of St Austell mussels and Fowey oysters) this glass-fronted edifice overlooks the Atlantic; a mighty setting in all weathers. Polar opposite of the 'quaint local', Lewinnick Lodge is large and luminous with a friendly modern vibe. Be wowed by a wall of glass, a sweep of oak, a sparkling bar, an open fire; efficient staff make everyone welcome and that includes your dog. You can eat in or out and they specialise in fish, cooked 'à point' just as it should be; our haddock with ratatouille and pan-fried gnocci burst with flavour. They're open for breakfast and the coffee is fabulous – courtesy of a Cornish coffee roaster!

Local points of interest from
Daniel Trotter:

  • Located on Pentire Headland with views directly over the Atlantic Ocean, dolphins, seals, oystercatchers, cormorants and peregrine falcons often spotted are from the Lodge.
  • Half way between Fistral and Crantock beaches, along the North Cornish Coastal path, take a stroll along this historic path with panoramic sea views and grab a well-deserved drink or bite to eat at Lewinnick on the way.
  • The Lodge was originally built as a small stone cottage in the second half of the 18th century and its purpose was to house staff and vehicles who were in service to the owner living at Lewinnick Cove.
