Cliff and James Nye have revived a 200-year-old coastal treasure. 'Eat, Drink and be Jolly' says it all: not only is this a community boozer geared to locals and families but it attracts all those who flock to Brancaster Bay, just across the road. In the classic bar, replete with beams, tiled floor, settles and a wood-burner pumping out the heat, dads can enjoy pints of home-brewed Brancaster ales while kids can watch the pizzas being baked in the open-to-view oven. Hearty traditional pub dishes using fresh local produce include mussels cooked in wine, onion, garlic and cream; lamb and mint pie; gammon, egg and chips; and good ol' fish and chips (delicious). It's may be less classy than the Nyes' White Horse Inn down the road, but the Sailors is a great little pit stop for families, beach bums and walkers.

Local points of interest from
Cliff Nye & Family:

  • Mid way between traditional seaside towns Wells-next-the-Sea (beach hut heaven) and Hunstanton (fun and lots of wind surfing to watch)
  • An area of outstanding natural beauty - breathe in the air, experience a wonderful sunset across the tidal marsh
  • Dalegate Shopping market in the adjoining village - crafts, clothes, food, one stop nature, pottery, cycle hire
  • Attractions nearby - Sandringham House and Estate, Holkham Hall and Estate, Houghton Hall
  • Take a walk along the boardwalk to Brancaster Beach - we think the best - big blue skies, walk the dogs, sunbathe or play with the kids
  • Smart out of town boutique shops at Thornham and picturesque Burnham Market

Guest feedback
"We went in a party of 14 including 6 children for Saturday lunch and we're delighted with everything about our meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and easy even though they were very busy, the service was slick, the food delicious and the children made very welcome. We shall definitely go back."
