Glorious views from a kid-friendly garden – and pub classics with a seasonal twist. Walkers, families, Henley-goers - all love it here

On the village main street, deep in the beautiful Hambledon valley, this 18th-century coaching inn is surrounded by open meadows and glorious walks. Head for the secluded garden, pint of Marlow Rebellion in hand, gaze across the valley and watch the red kites wheel. Or choose a sofa by the fire and mingle with locals and walkers. Wood floors, wall-mounted beer lists, bold mirrors and homogenous tables fill the dining areas where menus list hearty pub classics – steak, Guinness and mushroom pie, smoked haddock on champ with mustard sauce, lamb rump with port and redcurrant sauce – alongside the deli boards. Don't miss the sticky toffee pudding – or the once-a-month pub 'shop' selling Noelle's savoury pastries, cakes and chutneys.

Guest feedback
"Just divine. Perfect in every way. My very first exit from lockdown self isolation in London house to meet my best equally octogenarian friend from Oxfordshire. The Frog half way. Delicious food. Constant care and welcome. So lovely. That great field. We want to come again. Cannot think of anywhere better for a summer lunch. "
