The Red Lion at Northmoor - Pub in Oxfordshire
Standlake Road, Northmoor, OX29 5SX, Oxfordshire
England,
United Kingdom
Drop in to the Red Lion, at the heart of the pretty village of Northmoor, for log fires in winter, generous garden in summer, and contemporary cooking all year round. This little pub was bought up by the village community, and is now run by cheerful husband and wife team Lisa and Ian. Check out the blackboard menu - it's not vast as Ian cooks everything from scratch using ingredients from nearby producers, seasonal vegetables from the kitchen garden, and eggs from their own hens. Starters might include a delicious game terrine or beetroot and homemade ricotta salad, followed up by a vegetarian risotto or braised Northmoor lamb with artichoke gratin. Lots of wines by the glass will slip down as you relax in the bar, with its beams and exposed Cotswold stone. To work up an appetite (or walk off your meal), the Thames trail is just down the road.
