The Methuen Arms - Pub in Wiltshire
2 High Street, Corsham, SN13 0HB, Wiltshire
England,
United Kingdom
Built around the remains of a 14th-century nunnery, converted into a brewery and coaching inn in 1608, the Methuen has history and atmosphere in spades. Behind its impressive Georgian façade lies a beautifully restored and restyled interior: find soft rugs on stone and elm wood floors, crackling logs in old stone fireplaces, glowing candles on tables and vintage photos of Corsham. You can dine in the old scullery with its exposed stone walls and big beams, or sip a pint of frothy local ale in the cosy Georgian bar. Foodies flock here, for good reason. Head Chef Leigh Evans crafts a seasonal modern British menu, sourcing the finest local ingredients, so tuck into the likes of chicken glazed hake with artichoke risotto followed by burnt passion fruit cream - simple but indulgent well-sourced food to match the marvellous setting.
