You’ll feel instantly at home as you walk in here - and the food, drink and village setting will draw you back time and again

Drive through woodland from Marlborough to arrive at a pretty village and this late 18th-century pub in the capable hands of a young husband and wife team. James has gained experience in London, Seattle and Italy and places a very homemade emphasis on his modern and classic pub dishes. Begin with golden beetroot soup, horseradish crème fraîche and homemade bread, before bavette steak with chop house butter and bordelaise sauce, then perhaps poached rhubarb and passion fruit mess. The cheeses are good too. The bar has a well-loved traditional feel with a glorious brick fireplace, old floorboards and panelling, beams and rustic signage. A lovely place to raise a pint of Butcombe or Ramsbury ale, poured by smiley Ashley. Plus a small garden with boules pitch and Savernake Forest nearby.

Local points of interest from
Ashley & James Wilsey:

  • The Three Tuns sits on the edge of the stunning ancient woodlands of the Savernake Forest - excellent for walks, bike rides and shooting.
  • We are a 10 minute drive or bus ride from the busy market town of Marlborough with its famously wide High Street, shops and eponymous school.
  • The antique stores of Hungerford are also a short drive or train ride away.
  • The Kennet & Avon Canal runs through the village and is a defining part of life in Bedwyn. It is a beautiful part of village life throughout the seasons and always makes for a fun stroll. Enquire at the bar for print ups of local walks.
  • The existing pub was originally three buildings, at the heart of which still exists the old village bakery bread oven!
  • Tom Parker Bowles gave us a glowing review in the Mail on Sunday, then went on to mention us as one of the best pubs he ate at all year! Wiltshire Life Magazine recommend us as one of the best roasts in the county. Why not come and try one for yourself?
