The
Experience

You’ll feel private here with no other houses overlooking you and stunning views over the mountains and other villages from several of the terraces. There are plenty of different places for eating outdoors so you can chase the sun (or shade) around the house – and a super pool for cooling off.Roam two acres of lush gardens with lawns, cypresses and palm trees; pick fruit from the trees and veg from their patch in season. You cook in a modern kitchen – not huge but with access to both the living room and the outside terrace and barbecue. You can walk to the village restaurant in fifteen minutes. The Lecrin Valley is criss-crossed with trails for walkers, and bike tours can be arranged too. You’re just half an hour in the car from Granada and masses of culture, the Sierra Nevada for surprisingly good ski-ing and the coast for swimming and boating – Salobrena has a golden beach and clear waters.

Location

The neighbourhood

While the villa stands alone at the end of a quiet road, you’re only a 15-minute walk from the village, Melegis, which has a supermarket, bakery and bank, plus restaurant Los Naranjos. A mile further on in Restabal you’ll find a welcome clutch of bars and more eateries. There are more little white hamlets to explore the length of the valley: if you’re here in the summer you’re bound to overlap with a local fiesta.

Local points of interest from Steve & Victoria

  • Try the GR-7 walking trail that links Melegís to Murchas village. On the way you will see heaps of orange & lemon groves, local Spanish allotments whilst taking in some breathtaking scenery. Suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness.
  • Walk through the streets of Melegis and discover some of the local landmarks, cross the bridge into Restabal and discover the wonderful bakery with best croissants in Spain! Visit the well-known Los Naranjos restaurant in the village for a drink and tapas.
  • Visit the magnificent city of Granada and see the wonderful Alhambra palace (book in advance) and Cathedral. Walk through the historic narrow streets of Albaicin. Check out the romantic restaurants in the Plaza Nueva and the best Spanish street food.
  • Discover the white villages and towns of the Alpujarras. This is where you will find the medicinal spa town of Lanjaron, famous for its water and museum of honey! Visit ; Pampaneira or Capileira for a spot of memento shopping and more tapas.
  • Some of the best local beaches can be found near Salobrena only 30 mins away. Walk to the castle and wonder through the narrow streets. Spanish markets can easily be found in neighboring Almunecar : street markets on Fridays and daily veg and fish market.
  • Sierra Navada (king of the mountains in Spain) has a popular ski resort only 45 mins away from Granada. Recommended for beginners and intermediates or just to enjoy sitting with a hot chocolate admiring the scenery and soaking up the atmosphere!

Introducing

Steve & Victoria

Owners Steve and Victoria bought this place a year ago and named it after the colour of Victoria's favourite fruit, pink grapefruit - see if you can spot one in the orange grove. They leave the running of their villa to lovely Jen, who lives five minutes away. She speaks fluent Spanish and is always available to help. You’ll also meet Manu the gardener, who comes in four times a week to look after the garden. He’ll make sure you get any fruit and veg that’s ready to pick.
