The
Experience

Tucked away in the Lecrin Valley is an oasis of tranquillity with breathtaking views. It’s perfect for all ages and superbly located – 30 minutes to the beaches, the mountains and the treasures of Granada. After a day of adventure, come home to delicious organic food and the comforts of a traditionally built finca.  Heady smells emanate from the professional kitchen: breads, cakes, sausages, lavender ice cream; you could book a cookery class  with Scarlett, a wine tasting too, or set off on a tapas trail of Granada. Scarlett and Chris are wonderfully flexible, happy to help you plan your holiday or give you advice, and nothing is wasted at their gorgeous off-grid house, whose stylish light-filled rooms are powered by biomass and solar, and whose gardens are irrigated by waste water. All is delightful, from the fluffy robes and Moroccan slippers in the shower rooms to the free-range hens in the garden. Nod off in the hammock (or by the wood-burner), slip into the pool, let the children play, soak in the beauty around you. You can do anything from B&B to full board – one suite or the whole house. Brilliant.

Reviews

La Finca del Castillo Arabe commands an excellent position overlooking the Lecrin Valley which is easily accessible from both Granada and Malaga. The Aplujarras are nearby and make an excellent day-trip. Scarlett and Chris have created a wonderful retreat with well-appointed spacious rooms, delicious food and a much appreciated pool. They were always on hand to provide advice and clearly love this wonderful area. La Finca is a testament to their hard work and is a true idyll.

La Finca del Castillo, ideally situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, is for peace and quiet and quintessential Spanish scenery. The beautiful and impressive house offers a choice of 3 exceptional suites each boasting its own patio and view. An air of tranquility and easy living hits you as soon as you step inside the front door. The hosts Scarlett and Christopher could not be more friendly and accommodating and during our short stay could not do enough for us. The food is simply wonderful and Chris's breakfasts are to die for.

Chris and Scarlett have built a lovely home in the orange and almond groves of Andulacia. They are exceptional hosts, and Scarlett is a superb cook. The breakfasts and evening meals were wonderful, and we do enjoy our food! The guest suites are very spacious and comfortable with a wood burning stove, which was already lit when we arrived. We spent two nights there during a short break in Andulucia, and enjoyed our stay very much. Chris and Scarlett know the area very well and were keen to advise us when we wanted to explore the Alpujerras by car. We will definitely be back in the future.

We enjoyed our stay with Chris and Scarlett. The house itself is magnificent, very well appointed inside and out, with fantastic views over olive and orange groves. Our suite of rooms was extremely spacious and clean, with separate bedroom, lounge and wet-room. La Finca takes a little bit of effort to get to, through villages and down narrow lanes, but detailed instructions were provided from the motorway and we found it fine. This just means that peace and quiet are guaranteed, with walks from the front door. We found it the perfect place to relax and unwind and we'll stay here again.

LOVELY WILDFLOWER AND ORANGE BLOSSOM LADEN LOCATION, UP A VERY LONG NARROW DRIVE NOT FOR THE FEINT HEARTED, THE HOUSE HAS BREATHTAKING VIEWS AND SUITES ARE LARGE AND EQUIPPED WITH FIRES FOR COLDER PERIODS, UNHEATED POOL WHICH IS FINE FOR SUMMER BUT CHILLY IN SPRING, OUR HOSTS WERE ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, SO FRIENDLY, HELPFUL AND BENT OVER BACKWARDS TO MAKE OUR STAY ENJOYABLE. THE GUEST KITCHEN WAS INVALUABLE FOR A FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. COOKERY SCHOOL RUNNING FROM THE HOUSE, THE OWNERS HAVE A LOT OF DOGS AT THE HOUSE WHO ARE REALLY FRIENDLY BUT CAN BE A LITTLE OVER ENTHUSIASTIC AT MEAL TIME

Louise

What a lovely find near the mountains. The house is beautiful with wonderful hosts. The rooms are comfortable with plenty of room with patios, settee and hammocks. The meals were excellent with wonderful wines to complement the meal. The hosts were really helpful recommending places to visit or beaches to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay of two days.

If you are looking for a sanctuary nestled amidst lemon & orange groves; where you can escape the madness of the Malagan high rises and then this is the perfect place for you. Scarlett & Chris' warm welcome made the chilly shores of Blighty seem a million miles away. Nestled into an enveloping daybed, a menagerie of lovable mutts and moggies at my feet and the dramatic backdrop of mountains distracting me from my book, a fabulous massage from Pacale and soon my shoulders had fallen from ear level. This is a very special place; remote but worth the effort. Wonderful food and hosts. Thank you.

We had a truly relaxing weekend at La Finca del Castillo Arabe. This is an environmentally-friendly house situated in the heart of the Lecrin Valley, an oasis of calm and beauty. We enjoyed spectacular views of the Andalucian countryside from our tastefully decorated and spacious room and from the terrace where we dined al fresco every evening. Scarlett and Chris were charming and informative hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed the cookery class on the Saturday. All the food was delicious and we would thoroughly recommend this rural haven.

Scarlett certainly loves to pamper! Fabulous food, views, rooms, location, and a really special stay. Great for Granada, and also if you want to learn how to cook tapas, this is the place! Highly recommend a visit.

We had a lovely 2-week stay with Scarlett and Chris – they are such welcoming hosts and shared many top tips about the area! The rooms were large and bright with direct access to patio and the flexibility around catering/self-catering was just perfect for us…we had our 1-year-old with us and it was great to be able to use the shared kitchen as/when we wanted to or, alternatively, have breakfast or dinner cooked for us when we needed time off! The house is set in gorgeous country-side – my husband went mountain-biking and I went running…and afterwards we would cool down in the pool, bliss!

Charlotte

Can't recommend a stay at this lovely Eco-House highly enough. Scarlett and Chris make fantastic hosts and have worked to hard to build a beautiful house which makes the most of the wonderful Andalucian Countryside surroundings. Large Comfortable suites, Wet Room bathrooms and comfortable beds, great pool and stunning sunsets, well worth a visit or two!

Local points of interest from Scarlett Farrow

  • La Finca is located in 10 tranquil acres with stunning views of El Valle de Lecrin 30 minutes drive to the centre of Granada, the picturesque "hanging" white villages of the Alpujarras or Costa Tropical National Park beaches
  • El Valle de Lecrin was called the Valley of Happiness by the Moors who lived here after their evacuation from Granada. Three rivers run through the area and it has many water falls. It is an area full of Moorish history and is outstandingly beautiful
  • La Finca adjoins National Park and fantastic low-level walks, wild fauna and flora are literally on the doorstep. Enjoy sights of eagles, wild boar and deer from the terraces while sipping a glass of wine and tasting some of La Finca's tempting treats
  • Activities at La Finca include Tapas and Spanish Flavours cookery classes, Granada Wines tasting and watercolour painting - all of which are liberally interspersed with periods of relaxation by the pool, good food - even massages by our visiting masseur
  • Activities near to La Finca are high-level walking, horse trekking, beaches, skiing, jewellery making, herb walks, sailing, diving, seeing the Alhambra, shopping in Granada, Tapas Touring, even rock climbing and motorcycle trekking - so much to see and do
  • You may decide to do nothing and retreat, relax and revive in the comfort of La Finca, spend time to snooze in a hammock, float in the pool, chat and share a delicious organic meal with other guests on the terrace, or a romantic meal in a private patio
