The Experience

This is the perfect spot to gather your favourite people and reconnect. Begin the day right; breakfast on one of the terraces, each come with marble-topped tables and mountain views. Get your morning lengths in the heated, saltwater pool and muse on your daily activities. You’re on the edge of the Sierra Nevada – one of Spain’s few national parks and close to the beautiful La Alpujarra region – walking and cycling is a must. Gentle, traffic-free roads make it easy and the hillsides dotted with traditional white villages will delight.

Open plan and high ceilings make relaxing in the living room easy – the kitchen is in sight so the cook can call for assistance. Whoever is lucky enough to wash up gets dreamy views from the sink. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up a paella – when you don’t fancy cooking nearby Hacienda Señorio de Nevada comes Michelin recommended.

Reviews

I really enjoyed my time here. This is a very peaceful and warm (in all its senses) house. Super comfy and stylish. I especially loved the overwhelming views of the garden and mountains from the inside of the house outwards and once outside the small meandering path to the end of the garden with what seemed hundreds of orange and lemon trees below. Thank you William and Lesley for this welcome!

Location

The neighbourhood

Your neighbours come in the form of 250 lemon, orange and pomegranate trees; a nice bunch. You’re in isolation here and won’t hear a lot of noise other than birdsong - our kind of soundtrack. The village of Restábal is 2kms - stock up on basics and snacks for beside the pool. Medieval architecture, flamenco and tapas tasting in Granada are 30 minutes away.

Local points of interest from William van Klaveren

  • Beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada. They are snow clad from November to June. In the distance you can see the Beznar lake which is a reservoir for the surrounding area.
  • The property is surrounded by orange and lemon trees which fruit from January to June. Please help yourself! Also figs in season, almonds and olives.Olive oil from our trees is provided.
  • Only 30 mins from Granada, a beautiful Andalusian town boasting the famous Alhambra, many good restaurants, bull fighting, and charming tapas bars. Also the famous Easter processions and annual feria of Corpus Christi.
  • In the rare event of bad weather, the famous caves at Nerja are well worth a visit. They are huge and well looked after. Orchestras have played inside them. About 40 mins drive away.
  • For exercise outside the pool, choose between walking, cycling, horse riding, and skiing . All available locally.
  • For a day by the seaside, try the resorts of Nerja, Almunecar, Salobrena and La Herradura, which has an attractive yacht marina as well.

Introducing

William van Klaveren

Lesley and William have taken great pleasure in restoring this beautiful property. As they say; ‘‘much better than its former glory!” They travel here from their home in London for mountain vistas and the scent of geraniums and bougainvillaea. Belen, a local Spanish lady lives in a village nearby and will welcome you to the property and show you around. You’re guaranteed a warm Spanish welcome.
