The neighbourhood

There isn’t much to walk to but plenty of places to visit by car. The nearest town, Alhaurin el Grande, is one of the most picturesque villages in the valley, where Alhaurino's work and especially enjoy life. A 30 min drive takes you to Malaga, the vibrant, trendy, culinary capital city that has a beautiful historic centre and inexpensive parking. There are six different golf spots nearby and the beach is only a 30 min drive

Local points of interest from Carlo Van den Nieuwenhuijzen

  • Málaga is a world apart from the adjoining Costa del Sol; a historic and culturally rich provincial capital which has long lived in the shadow of the iconic Andalucian cities of Granada, Córdoba and Seville. Within just 30 minutes...
  • The Caminito del Rey is just 45 minutes from our Bed and Breakfast. When you are guest of Bed & Breakfast Casa don Carlos we can take care of the tickets and they will be available upon arrival.
  • Playing Golf, in the immediate surroundings of Alhaurin el Grande you can choose from a large number of courses, each being totally different. With some of these, Bed & Breakfast Casa Don Carlos has special contracts with reduced green fees.
  • A one and a halve hour drive away from Bed & Breakfast Don Carlos lies the beautiful edifice Alhambra, consisting of the Alcazaba, The Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife.
  • From Bed & Breakfast Casa Don Carlos it is a 60 km drive to Antequera. It is a beautiful route for a lovely walk in the breath-taking Andalusian nature of Torcal de Antequera.

Carlo Van den Nieuwenhuijzen

A Dutch couple in their fifties. Outgoing Carlo is from the hospitality industry and has excellent customer service and catering skills. Ronald is the silent force behind the operation, but he too enjoys a celebration. Both love their lives in Spain and nothing makes them happier than giving their guests the best stay possible and a bit of Dutch ‘gezelligheid’ – a feeling difficult to describe in English that is something like ‘home from home’.
