This grand and luxurious country hacienda feels 18th-century, though it’s actually beautifully-constructed 20th. Guest rooms, with mountain views, are bright and beautiful. The more traditional like Malaga with its leather sleigh bed and Cordoba with 4-poster have impressively tiled bathrooms, deluge showers and double sinks. Three recent additions are lovely too, and quirkier, with exposed stonework and open shower rooms. Yvonne and Ray are realising their dream here and want guests to relax and soak up the sophisticated atmosphere they’ve created. Whether it’s in the splendid log-fired drawing room – where you’re free to play the family collection of 78s – or in the grounds with roses, honeysuckle, and the extremely swish Alhambra-inspired walled garden, jacuzzi, pool and cascading fountains. In winter you eat in the spectacular formal dining room dominated by two vast chandeliers, In summer, everything turns al fresco out on the terraces. Yvonne is a considerable cook; dinners are feasts, breakfasts lavish. A great place to escape to as a couple and for special events. And only half an hour from the beach.
Yvonne is an excellent hostess who makes each guest feel special. All are encouraged to feel at home. Her meals are excellent. A wonderful location from which to explore Andalucía.
