The Experience

Kris and Rene are delighted to have shed their corporate shackles – they’re friendly and generous and keen for guests to share their beautiful home, their food and their company. Perched on a hillside just outside town this big modern villa has several terraces from which you have views over palm, olive and fruit trees then mountains, valleys and villages. The main house has three enormous arched windows in the breakfast room so you can also view-gaze while you tuck into juices and jams from their own fruit trees, along with Kris’s homemade bread. Choose between straightforwardly spick and span bedrooms in the house, or independence in a studio or apartment (you can still come to breakfast!). If four or more of you want dinner then Kris will cook, otherwise it’s a short drive to town for restaurants. Take a car to the coast at Torre de Mar, visit the picturesque Comares and Alhama de Granada with its Arabic Baths, hike in the Sierra Tejeda National Park. Return for a splash in the large swimming pool and enjoy a sundowner with no other noise except birdsong.

We had a wonderful winter break staying in the Dame De Noche apartment at El Nispero Dulce, which was spacious, comfortable and perfect for our needs. Kris and Rene were really friendly hosts who provided us with a great breakfast each morning, and also gave us lots of useful advice about local restaurants and walking opportunities, which really helped us make the most of our trip. We would love to return at some point in the future and explore this beautiful part of Andalucia more, and we arrived home with many happy memories of our stay at El Nispero Dulce.

Alan, Johnstone

We really enjoyed our stay! It was our first stop after an early flight from London and we felt immediately relaxed. The pool is lovely and the setting is beautiful. Our room was comfortable, clean and you could tell a lot of thought has been put into making guests feel welcome. We decided to eat with K+R on our first night and the food was absolutely delicious and in a really pretty setting. K+R were very helpful with recommending walks, beaches and other local restaurants which was great. Thank you very much!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful location high in the hills with the most amazing views one could wish for. Comfortable beds, spotless rooms, beautiful pool area and incredible breakfasts on the terrace. Kris and Rene brilliant hosts and made us so welcome. We will return.

Helen, Exeter

Kris and Rene were so caring and thoughtful and went out of their way to make us (an elderly couple) feel really welcome. It was such a pleasure to share their beautiful home and garden and to enjoy delicious breakfasts with spectacular views.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Kris Verschueren & René Koster

  • Sierra de Tejeda national park (we are on the edge of it). For walking there are countless tracks and paths to suit all requirements. One can start from within the village or drive a few kilometers in the park to Area Recreativa El Alcázar.
  • The picturesque village of Comares (perched on top of a mountain – you can see it in the distance from the garden).
  • The nearest beaches are situated in Torre del Mar (25 minutes). There you find a wide variety of typical chiringuitos where you can relax and enjoy all kinds of local food.
  • Alhama de Granada (40 minutes), through the Zafarraya pass and towards Granada. A delightful little town with an amazing gorge (for walking or just looking). The hot springs are 10 minutes away … relax in the hot outside pool or take a treatment there.
  • Nerja (45 minutes) has around 15 Km (small) beaches. In the center there are many shops and places to eat and last but not least the Balcón de Europe, a promenade made on a cliff with amazing views over the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Málaga (50 minutes) is upcoming with its new renovated harbor with restaurants, cocktail bars and the Centre Pompidou that opened in 2015. Beside there is the Museo Picasso, Museo Ruso, the Cathedral, the Atarazanas market,...and excellent shopping.
