The Experience

This contemporary split-level villa has nature all around, with distant sea views, La Concha Mountain as your backdrop, and a 36-hole golf course on your doorstep.

The superb climate here means you can spend time outside all year-round with plenty of space to spread out at the villa – take your morning coffee on a pretty ceramic table on one of the four terraces, fire up the barbecue and dine on another; take a dip in the nicely private pool in the paved, walled garden.

You’re just south of Benahavís, a village which can be reached by way of a scenic gorge: hike uphill along the riverbed, go cannoning, cool off in the rock pools. Head to Puerto Banús for shops and bars; Estepona’s stylish marina, authentic restaurants and beach bar; or Marbella’s picturesque old quarter, all a 20-minute drive. Back home play padel on the shared outdoor court or spend your days golfing – there are so many courses nearby you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Reviews

Samantha's place set on the low slopes close to the sea but away from more crowded areas is a strategic haven amongst the many golf clubs on the Costa del Sol. The home is practical, luminous and an easy reach to the highlights of the area if you are not just relaxing poolside. With the ideal micro climate and clement temperatures, this is an ideal off-season destination.

Location

The neighbourhood

The villa is one of only ten homes on a private, gated cul-de-sac, and your neighbours all live here full-time. Samantha recommends Wild Café and Restaurant in Estepona for great vegetarian and vegan choices, or Rufino in Benahavís for more traditional Spanish fare. There’s a big supermarket a 5-minute drive away, the coast is 10, and Sonara beach, one of Samantha’s favourites is 15.

Local points of interest from Samantha Odegbaro

  • Tour the famous White Villages of Andalucia & the surrounding countryside. Casares is one of the closest, its white-washed, cubic houses are simply a breathtaking sight. And the climb to the top of the village offers spectacular views. Go late afternoon.
  • The road to Ronda is well worth the drive. Perched dramatically above a steep gorge, its views are stunning & its streets a joy to explore. But try to keep going & make it to Grazalema, you’ll be rewarded with another White Village not to be missed.
  • Marbella - start your day here in Spanish-style with a breakfast of chocolate with churros, then walk/cycle the miles of paseo running next to the beaches & sea. Alternatively explore the Old Town with all of its nooks & crannies, galleries & tapas bars.
  • Drive behind Estepona into the beauty of Serrania de Ronda & head to the unique village of Genalguacil. Every 2yrs, artists gather here from around the world & leave some of their work around the village as a legacy. There is a contemporary art museum too
  • Zahara de la Sierra is a hidden gem. The castle & the streets are wonderful but it is the amazing sight of the blue lake which will capture your attention. Bring a picnic, a chair & a partner to enjoy a game of Scrabble next to the lake.
  • A day trip to Tangier across the Straits of Gibraltar puts you on a different continent & in a different world. All of your senses will be positively brought to life. Perhaps pack an overnight bag & make it 24hrs in Tangier.

Introducing

Samantha Odegbaro

You'll be greeted by Samantha, who lives 10 minutes away or, in her absence, by her Spanish housekeeper. Samantha and her husband packed up and left the UK when their child was small, exploring Spain and Morocco and living in Greece and Singapore. They're now based in Bulgaria but spend a good time of the year on the Costa del Sol.
