A lovely, peaceful, laid-back finca for family or friends. Off the beaten track, off grid (they escort you on arrival from the local bar) yet it’s an easy drive from everything, including a delicious cove. Bar-hop and people-watch in Ibiza Old Town, stay awake for the clubs (they start at 1am!). This old farmhouse, subject to renovations over the years, is still used by the English family who’ve owned it for 40 years, so make yourselves at home among eclectic wall hangings, pictures, mirrors and country antiques. From the pebbled, furnished and prettily dappled porch, through the stout wooden doors, you enter a lofty dining hall of white walls and ancient beams, then the mezzanine’d sitting room with hearth and homely seating, and up to an open roof terrace with views that reach to the sea. (No TV and DVD but hi-fi, WiFi and mob reception.) Bedrooms are functional: good firm beds, spotless showers. The birds will deliver a stirring dawn chorus, the unguarded pool (this is not for young families) is of magnificent proportions, the minimarket is a sprint away, and you breakfast beneath the sweet canopy of the apricot tree.
