The Experience

On the north coast of sunlit Mallorca, 30 km from lively Palma, is the charming honey-hued mountain village of Deià. Once home to the poet Robert Graves as well as a favourite hideaway for rock ‘n’ roll royalty, it still has a bohemian air about it. You stay in a big, luminous house a short stroll away – meander down for morning coffee or an evening apertivo in a shady square.

Indoors there’s space to spread out – a TV area, two sitting rooms, big bedrooms – or to come together in the huge kitchen diner or out on the terrace; a great spot for eating and entertaining.

Wander the steep cobbled streets of Valldemossa, head to Sóller for galleries filled with Picassos and Mirós then hop on the wooden tram that runs to Port de Sóller for lunch at a seafood restaurant. It’s easy to discover hidden pine-flecked bays and ravishing sandy beaches, while the glorious Serra de Tramuntana mountain range awaits for fabulous hiking and biking.
