The Experience

Amazing views encompass the comings and goings of the ancient natural harbour of historic Mahón, and the bay of Cala Rata. There’s plenty of well-designed, grown-up space here, both in and outdoors, and over three floors: comfy loungers, sliding glass doors, an inviting mix of traditional and modern (and don’t fight over the hammock). You have your own pool, bar and BBQ…and if all this sounds inviting, there’s a great welcome hamper too.

For shops, restaurants and architectural gems, take the water taxi into Mahón. Or set off into the hinterland, scattered with dairy farms, to taste and buy Menorcan cheese, and the delights of Pan y Vino, a treat of a restaurant in little Torret.

Return to exotic plants and Menorcan throws, a pool terrace with a pergola, and serene bedrooms with sea views. One is in the garden, another has its own terrace. All this 20 minutes’ drive from the airport, in one of the most charmed spots in the Balearics.

Reviews

Just returned from a fantastic two weeks in Menorca. Villa D'Este was a great base; excellent location looking out over the bay, very comfortable, beautiful pool area, and incredibly peaceful. Bay was incredibly helpful and the local manager was very quick to help when required. Highly recommended.

Thank you for a great stay; villa very comfortable and lovely pool / deck area. We would love to return. Great recommendations too, many thanks Bsy.

Villa d' Este exceeded all our expectations. We were a family of 6 adults and one baby and there was more than enough room for everyone to have a little ‘me time’ if needed. We played tennis in Mahon everyday and ate fresh fish on the barbecue in the evening. The views over the harbour were amazing. Sa Mesquida. Beach which is only a short drive is beautiful. The villa is fully equipped and the owners could not have been more helpful offering such comprehensive advice. We would all love to return one day as it was absolutely perfect.

A great spot to get away from it all. No crowds, no noise – you feel the stress melt away here. It’s got a comfortable rustic aesthetic and a sense of permanence and solidity that is often lacking in newer, more tourist-oriented villas. The views are the star of the show. It’s a place you could happily not leave for days.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Villa d'Este is exactly as described and pictured, and exceeds expectations : its distribution on three levels, with pool and living areas in the middle and rooms and terraces upstairs and downstairs in a beautiful garden proves extremely comfortable. Our group of 8 was able to enjoy both reuniting at lunch and dinner time as well as independence whenever desired. The house would be perfect for two families traveling together as it was for our three generations vacations! Equipment is complete, without luxury. Support is efficient and reactive. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay.

Location

The neighbourhood

A water-taxi ride from the capital Mahón - fabulous for fashion and food - the villa is one of a number of hillside hideaways overlooking the harbour. Scoot across the water to the tiny Illa del Rei, latest outpost of Hauser & Wirth: enjoy galleries, gardens and restaurant. Sa Mesquida beach, unspoilt and stunning, is a 4km drive... as are the sunsets from the restaurant at Cap Roig.

Local points of interest from John & Bay Lees

  • Menorca like nearly all Spanish towns and villages love Festivals/ Es Castell July 24th / 25th / 26th fires off its fireworks around the last day of July. sitting up and watching the display and you know just what fun it all can be.
  • Diving is very popular in Menorca, and there are several diving schools at which you can sample the sport for the first time. For the more experienced diver, there are some wonderful dive sites...Snorkelling is a great pastime in Menorca
  • The Island of Menorca is a perfect place to learn to sail, it offers the opportunity to explore some wonderful deserted coves and hideaway beaches. If you would like to hire a boat or learn to sail , let us know and we can help you.
  • Bird watching in Menorca during April and Sept is a must for all bird lovers. It offers some really rare sightings during migration.
  • Walkers delight. Try the wonderful Menorca walks during the early season when the weather is cooler. Not a fan of walking? Visit our Central Market - wonderful for local produce, veg, meats, fish, cheese. Or have a seat in one of the oldest coffee shops!
  • Try a stop off in Barcelona or Parma on your way to Menorca. Its a great way of seeing more of Spain
