The Experience

Framed by tawny sands and emerald hills, San Sebastián’s splendid coastline is laid out before you. Come to this warm, quirky place, dressed in sheepskin and chandeliers, to read, write, explore. The former historic villa of a Countess now has a cocktail bar, happy hour and yoga if you book in advance. It feels like the holiday home of a very arty, well-travelled friend.

Breakfast is brought to your room between 9 and 10 on a tray – fresh orange juice, warm rolls, eggs, ham and cheese, bowls of yogurt with granola, seeds and fruit. Everything is local, organic and has as little packaging as possible.

Stroll to the vast city backyard of Playa La Concha, where the locals flock to picnic, pose and play; body boarders will find powerful waves one beach over at the Playa de la Zurriola. Visit churches, museums and galleries, spend an afternoon in sultry Santa Clara, eat fresh oysters or pintxos (Basque tapas) with a glass of sparkling txakoli white wine.

Reviews

We had a lovely stay here, felt very at home and wish we could have stayed longer. A great location, right above the beach, and a short stroll to town. Our room was gorgeous, with lovely decor, fabulous views and a big comfy bed. We had a shared bathroom which was fine and nice dressing gowns were provided. The hosts made us feel very welcome, gave us good recommendations on places to eat and drink (Tedone was the best meal we had in Spain), arranged taxis, provided umbrellas and spa tickets. We love their laid back dog. We felt very relaxed and hope to come back soon.

Thanks to staying at the Far Out Inn on a business trip, where I had a very restful night lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves, the two meetings the following day went very well. Nothing better than to start the day with a superb breakfast overlooking the beautiful bay - highly recommneded.

This hotel is well located and good value for money. Decoration and general ambience is of a home other than a commercial undertaking. Large Black Labrador very docile, mainy lays around. Ronnie and Nando are very good hosts. Breakfasts are dainty. Views are stunning. Car park access has a very tight curving ramp , not for the faint hearted. But once down the ramp there is plenty of space. Bedroom four faces the main road and could be noisy if you need the windows open. Beach is close by and down 241 steps. Taxi back around €8.00. Climb back and have a celebratory cocktail in the hotel

Far Out Inn is a real gem! The atmosphere is relaxed and homely; the views are stunning! We particularly loved the breakfast, and found it very convenient having secure parking in such a central location.

Location

The neighbourhood

You’re perched on a hill overlooking the bay – the city at your feet, but away from the noise and traffic. There are no signs outside to announce the B&B; you’ll be sent directions and photos before you arrive, and if you’re bringing a car you’ll need to call just before arriving so they can open the gate to the car park. It’s an easy walk to both the old town and beach, and there are lots of places to eat from Michelin-starred restaurants to little backstreet pintxos bars.

Local points of interest from Kate Moore

  • The villa was formally owned by a Countess who moved to Madrid.
  • Our villa in located in the center of la Concha Beach above La Perla Talaso Spa
  • Located in the centre, in a quiet neighbourhood, we are walking distance from all the major touristic attractions yet far away from all the noise.
  • 100 meters to the beach
