The Experience

Take your pick of roomy eco farmhouse, sweet cottage or stylish yurt – from simple to decadent, tiny to large – and a romantic eco tower. Each is different: the farmhouse gives you masses of space and your own lovely cool-off pool, the yurts have skylights for ventilation and tantalising views of the stars; everything is beautifully crafted, from Moroccan rugs to Mongolian art.

The founders, Michelle and Tila, have surrounded the farmhouse, seven fetching yurts and gorgeous cottages with stepped gardens of aloe, succulents and exotic fruits, solar panels, wind turbines and the latest renewables – the Finca is powered by the largest green energy system on the island. Find a decked pool and a super play area for children with a sunken trampoline. It’s a heady mix, combined with views to volcanic mountains and sea.

Collect eggs, onions, tomatoes, potatoes in season, whip up lunches in al fresco kitchens, chill out on daybeds by the pool, soak up the sun.

Reviews

Finca de Arrieta has a very friendly, social vibe to it and the location is ideal: you’re just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and village. I slept like a log in the Beach yurt and enjoyed a morning shower with sunrise view over the sea! There’s no shortage of things to do on site and in the surrounding area, yet also plenty of areas to simply relax! The welcome was warm and I definitely hope to return!

We had a very good week here, staying in the spacious Farmhouse. Our children LOVED the play area where they made new friends. They also loved the chickens, collecting eggs every morning, the donkeys and the cat. The family run company lay on an airport transfer complete with a bottle of fizz which was much appreciated after a long journey! The hire of the Farmhouse included the use of a car for the week. Would highly recommend.

My son & I stayed in the Eco Yurt at Finca de Arrieta in August 2012. The retreat is incredibly relaxing. My 5 year old spend most of the time socializing with other children around the retreat and each evening went to bed exhausted ! The beach is amazingly private and beautiful and we spent many days sitting at one of the beach front restaurants, eating and drinking. .The Prius car was great as the island is easy to get a grip of in 1-2 weeks and not to see the Manrique sites and Timanfaya would be a tragedy. We loved Orzola, La Famara, La Graciosa. We would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Finca de Arrieta, such a relaxed, laid back place, our little cottage was very comfortable, a well equiped kitchen, with bottles of wine and a box of local produce waiting for us on arrival was very welcome. They also have an honesty shop on site. Michelle and Tila were fantastic hosts, so friendly and helpful. A beautiful beach, and Arrieta village, with lots of Restaurants and Tapas Bars only a short distance away, Finca de Arrieta is the perfect place to be for a hassle free holiday away from the busy tourist resorts. We'd definitely love to go again.

The Eco Farmhouse is in a unique position at the Lanzarote Retreats finca. This sensitively and scrumptiously restored stone farmhouse has been built with love and care. A huge living area, with four poster bed, to die for furnishings & a covered terrace. The front door leads out into its own private pool space with a vast chill out zone by the private pool, with daybeds, a shower and barbeque. We loved the honesty shop and bar, taking a yoga class, playing table tennis and meeting new pals at the other communal pool. The use of the Prius is inspired and we loved exploring the island.

Absolutely fantastic holiday! So close to Arrieta beach which is a lovely beach . Tila and Michelle are brilliant hosts - guaranteed you will be well looked after and have great fun. The accommodation is luxuriously simple. Can't wait to get back out sometime in 2013.

Location

The neighbourhood

Children will love visiting the chickens and the donkeys, collecting eggs and meeting other children in the play park. Grab a boogie board and stroll to the beach for great surfing. Playa Francesa on La Graciosa is a snorkeler's dream, Los Jameos del Agua is magical. 300 metres away you’ll find the nearest restaurant, with a VW van mojito bar and tapas place next door too. More restaurants are in the village.

Local points of interest from Toby Herst

  • Most properties have Ocean Views - if our availability looks busy always e-mail as we have a total of 17 cottages/yurts.
  • Finca de Arrieta is situated on the East coast of Lanzarote and opposite Arrieta Beach, perfect for trying your hand at Boogie Boarding or Surfing! There are also lovely local bars and restaurants within walking distance.
  • Did you know that there are more than 300 volcanoes on Lanzarote?! The best way to explore the island is by car. Combined with local area knowledge from a native islander, this is our idea of really getting to know the island.
  • Looking for self catering but also would like meals delivered? Just ask as we can arrange for a local supplier to bring food to your holiday home.
  • Did you know that Lanzarote produces its own wine - and it is very good too! We can organise tours to the most famous "bodegas" (vineyards) of Lanzarote.
  • Lanzarote loves a fiesta! Especially in during the months of February and March when amazing Carnival parades take place in every town on the island.

Introducing

Toby Herst

Guests have been welcomed to these rural and eco-friendly spaces since 2007, where owners Michelle and Tila have been offering the opportunity to discover Arrieta, a village in the north of Lanzarote, which they love and where they live with their four children. The bookings department is headed up by Toby and his team are totally committed to providing a personal and knowledgeable service to all their guests and can recommend things to do.
