The Experience

Sample a slice of Catalan life with Ariane and Rainer; try local wines from the honesty bar, cool off in the pool, warm up around a firepit under the stars, enjoy long views and great sunrises over mountains and vineyards.

This 19th-century burnt-yellow farmhouse – a welcoming family home – sits in a tranquil spot with mulberry trees in the garden. Rooms are full of lovely upcycled furniture and some have their own private terrace. The apartment is spacious with everything you need to create delicious meals. Breakfasts are served on the shady terrace or in the cosy living room – continental style made from local produce: salamis, cheeses, fresh bread and marmalades.

Walk from your doorstep and set out around the vineyards and up the mountains; stop off at the small lake and waterfalls for some wild swimming. The coast is half an hour away and Barcelona is within striking distance for a day trip (one hour).

Reviews

Arianella B&B is located in a residential area in Torrelles de Foix. A quiet place where you can find peace and relax. A great place to wine and nature lovers. Walking and cycling paths are easy reachable. You will be surrounded by extensive vineyards fields. Wine tasting direct from the cavas is a must.

Paula, Sawday's inspector

An incredible find. Perched high in Penedès region of Catalonia it's a beautiful place to stay with tranquil gardens, lovely rooms and an "honesty bar" cellar stocked with local organic and biodynamic wines. The hosts are charming and knowledgeable on where to eat, wine tour and walk. A hidden gem.

Tessa, Bristol

Fabulous B&B with loads of character. Owners delightful and lay on delicious breakfast and organised a trip to a vineyard for tasting. Perfect location for visiting Barcelona, Tarragona, monasteries and unspoilt beaches. Something for everyone. Relaxing by the pool and jacuzzi perfect for making holiday really special.

Marie-Claire, Stratford-upon-Avon

A really excellent place to stay. An atmospheric house with comfy bedrooms. Incredibly helpful owner that enable you to make the most of your stay. Delicious breakfasts and best of all a jacuzzi with a view!

Kate

We felt at home almost immediately. This B&B is relaxed and cosy - and a really good place to use as the base for visiting other parts of Penedes. Honesty bar, great breakfast and access to cooking in the kitchen: the concept that Rainer and Ariane have developed works really well!

Location

The neighbourhood

Arianella is in the middle of vineyards with mountains behind – head to the top for views over the plain of Penedés. Walk down the road to for supplies; there’s a good Saturday market and wine museum in Vilafranca del Penedés (20 minutes by car). Join a fascinating Catalonian tradition - Castellers – every Friday night and learn how to make a massive human pyramid (15 minutes in the car).

  • What about a bike trip, electric or otherwise enjoying the beautiful landscape of Penedes, visiting wine bars.wineries and a good restaurant on the way?

Introducing

Ariane Paasch

Ariane and her husband run the B&B with friendly staff; they bought the farmhouse in 2003 looking for a change in lifestyle. They love meeting guests and speak several languages between them – English, German, Spanish and some Catalan.
