Blissful tranquillity on the edge of medieval Olivella; views pour over vineyards, hamlet and church. The position may seem remote, but it’s not: a simple shop and country restaurant are a three-minute drive away and civilised Sitges, with sand beaches, is fifteen. Through the main barn door and the grandness of the building becomes apparent. Parts date back to the 11th century and it’s so huge you could lose yourself – the house sleeps 30! It was originally a wine house and production only ceased in 2002 – note the beautiful bodega – so expect rambling levels, stone steps and numerous stairs. A stunning, recent rustic-chic restoration makes this a very special venue for a big family celebration – an anniversary perhaps, or a wedding. Bedrooms, large, light and airy, come with polished tiled floors, exposed stone walls, chunky ceiling beams and lush views. Bathrooms are luxurious and there’s a children’s attic under the eaves. Imagine two kitchens, several sitting rooms, snooker, mini cinema, lavender and lemon trees, birdsong and two pools (one infinity, one for children). It’s hugely romantic and we loved it all.
