Be spoiled by lavish breakfasts and serenaded by birds! City and country are rolled into one, near a village on the outskirts of Barcelona

Read guest comments

Fifteen minutes from Barcelona, in one of those rather classy Spanish 'urbanizacións', is a well-kept modern townhouse at the top of the hill, with a pretty view of Torrelles de Llobregat. You can walk to restaurants, listen to the birds, the station is nearby and your host looks after you beautifully. The house is on three floors with the salon on the ground floor (listen to music, borrow a book, help yourself to coffee), the dining room above with two guest bedrooms, and two more bedrooms at the very top. Spoil yourself – the rooms are immaculate in modern hotel style, with deep beds, snazzy fabrics, big windows, one with air con and free WiFi, another with its own little terrace. Bathrooms are exemplary. If you want to be driven to the station to see Barcelona yet sleep in peace this is the place for you: swoon over delicious jams, fruit, cereals, eggs and hams; enjoy multilingual Paula's freshly-baked muffins and scones. It's a very nice set-up for families too, with a pool in the garden and Catalunya en Miniatura nearby: a most adventurous model village.

"Everything about our stay was wonderful. Paula picked us up from the airport, cooked the most amazing food, and helped us work out how to get into Barcelona on the train. Our room was really comfortable and we enjoyed staying by the pool. A perfect place to stay; we were looking for peace and quiet but then were able to get into Barcelona. Paula is a wonderful cook and we had some lovely evening meals including the night of our 25th wedding anniversary when she made us a special cake. We will definitely return. We have stayed in many B+B's in many different countries but this is the best."

"We spent two nights with Paula and Carles. Carles picked us up at the airport for the 20 minute drive to their home, then took us to catch the train into Barcelona. We later rented a car, but this B&B is very accessible by train. Our room was lovely, and I have not slept so well in a long time. Very comfortable. We most enjoyed our hosts' and fellow guests' companionship at breakfast and dinner, as well as a welcome retreat from the crowded streets and restaurants of Barcelona. Paula was most helpful on suggestions for lunch and attractions in Barcelona. "

"Fantastic. Paula really made our holiday. A perfect hostess. She looked after us wonderfully, from breakfast to dinner. Paula was so helpful, booking trips and tickets for us and giving us so much information about getting around in Barcelona. Paula and Carles were really what made our stay so special. We had 6 nights with then in June 2017. Anyone looking for somewhere to stay near Barcelona should stay here, its perfect for getting into the city but also for visiting beaches and swimming in the pool after a hot day. We had paella with Paula and family on our last night. Thankyou both so much"

"Very lovely and comfortable house. We were very happy to have the peace of staying outside the city but Barcelona and its beaches are pretty easy to access by car (no more than 30 mins). Paula and Carlos are enormously friendly and knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make our stay a comfortable and happy one. Delicious food as well...! Thank you"

"We had a great stay with Paula and Carles. The property itself is comfortable and inviting, and for such a tranquil setting, the proximity to Barcelona was amazing. We enjoyed delicious Catalan meals, and they even went out of their way to cater to the whims of our picky eating 5 year old son. We will definitely return!"

"Paula and Carlos couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfasts and dinner were excellent. We preferred to stay outside the city and found the train journey in very straightforward. As we had a car it was also very easy to get to Montserrat. Chatting to Paula felt like talking to a friend and we felt that we knew and were completely at home in this corner of Spain."

"A great house and owners showing you the best walks and places that no guide will show you. Feeling after a long time more than at home, completely spoiled with amazing breakfast, quiet location and great mild temperatures with a great sun in December! If you need a break from the winter or from anything, this is your place to be! "

"Home away from home Carles and Paula (hosts) made me feel right at home and they really take care of you and are very helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are super comfortable! Better than my own bed! If I wanted to go to Barcelona, it was only 15 minutes away. A beautiful balance between city excitement and relaxed environment at the guest house. Added bonus is that Paula loves to prepare breakfast herself. it felt like home away from home. Thank you Carles and Paula for being super hosts! "

"CountrysideBCN, as the name suggests, provides the perfect balance of city and countryside. Thanks to Paula and Carles' brilliant hospitality, we had a great few days in and around Barcelona. It really felt like a home from home just with far tastier breakfasts and a gorgeous swimming pool which our children loved! We would definitely recommend CountrysideBCN."

"Lovely warm, welcoming stay with new friends, Paula and Carles. Immaculate house, garden and pool in a countryside setting with the sounds of cicadas, chickens and birds to lull you into holiday mode. Lovely breakfast, all the homemade food is prepared with care and skill, nothing is too much trouble, children loved it too. We would happily return one day. "

"We have just spent a fantastic 5 nights at this B&B which we recommend very highly. Warm & friendly welcome, spotlessly clean house in a peaceful area, the most comfortable bed & good bathroom (Cielo room), great choice for breakfast, delicious cooking (welcome meal plus a special one for New Year's Eve). Our visit to Barcelona & area was wonderful, not least because of Paula & Carles who care so much for their guests. They showed us to the station and explained the tickets & routes, bought us tickets for visits on-line, offered advice & recommendations..........merci mille fois!"

"We had a wonderful break with Paula and Carles. The house was beautiful, and Paula's food was wonderful. We really appreciated the little extras that Paula provided - a lovely dinner for us when all the restaurants were closed, taking us to the station and talking us through the railway ticketing system, and booking us a table at a local restaurant. Highly recommend."

"We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. A 20 minutes drive from all the central attractions in Barcelona with the comfort what sleeping concerns being of the countryside, outside Barcelona and it's nightlife. Laura as well as her friend Carles are very nice and warm people helping planning your visit and helping you out when having any problems:) A special remark, you should try the Home Cava, and the artisinal beers (nature) recommendation worth as well as the cooking of Paula (real Spanish) We will return for sure, probably with our parents... and hope in the meantime to welcome them in belgium"

"My teenage son and I had the perfect break to Barcelona, staying with Paula and Carles. We couldn't have asked for anything more; they cooked for us, drove us to the station and restaurants and gave my son lots of tips for learning Spanish. The breakfasts were very special, everyday there was a freshly squeezed fruit juice and Paula's scones were delicious. We felt as if we were staying with family."

"I have just spent a delicious week with my 15 year old son staying at Countryside BCN. We came by train and were without a car, but we need not have worried as Paulo and Carles looked after us so well. From being there at the station to greet us, to delivering and collecting us at beautiful restaurants and places of interest to taking us to the incredible "Festa Major De Gracia" in Barcelona to see the 'Colles Castelleras',Paulo and Carles were the perfect hosts. They are generous with their time, but respect yours, have a beautiful home (I slept so well), and Paulo's cooking is divine."

"an amazing place, we felt so welcomed and at home! Paula and Carles did everything to create a wonderful space, where everything seemed to be possible. Lots of insider ideas for us, a great breakfast, cosy beds and a huge rage of possibilities to do....or just do nothing, relax and enjoy the pool! Thank you so much for all, Paula and Carles! We definitely come back!"

"We enjoyed a 4-days stay at countryside BCN and loved it very much! Paula and her family are very nice and treat you like 'one of them'. They do their best to make you feel at home, introduce you to the typical food, make efforts to speak other languages. Our children were welcomed too and had great fun. Whenever we're in the neighbourhood, we'll be back!"

"We had a lovely stay with Paula and her welcoming family at Countryside BCN. The traditional Catalan meal Paula prepared for us on our first evening was absolutely delicious and the hearty breakfasts prepared us for the long days ahead that we spent in Barcelona. A lovely comfortable home with wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. Definitely one to return to! "

"We wanted to visit Barcelona en route to Southern Spain and this was an ideal location to leave our car and see the city, travelling in by train for the day. Paula and Carlas could not have been more helpful in planning our day and making our stay a pleasure. We would certainly recommend the place to our friends."
March 2015
"We had a very warm welcome from this delightful couple. The room was well appointed and comfortable, and the house had a serene feel to it. We were only passing through, in winter, so didn't experience the pool or garden, but will definitely go back when we visit barcelona. The surrounding hills are beautiful and it will make a great retreat from the heat of the city. The owners are very thoughtful and can give plenty of help and ideas on enjoying the city and the whole area."
January 2015
"A very warm welcome, lots of helpful advice, a comfortable room with a great shower and good wifi, lovely breakfasts, would go back in a flash. (It's handy for the city centre but you can escape the urban rush.)"
