The
Experience

A village house dating from 1794 and sitting at the intersection of two streets beside the old urban centre – it’s easy to find a parking space. Cristina and her husband (who meet and greet) have split the house in two (all by themselves!) and leave you generous basics including logs for the fire and some ’boutique’ touches like a bottle of red wine and a bag with the house logo – everything down to the last detail is well thought out. Casa Abril is the larger space with a light and airy feel, big views from many windows, a smart kitchen and an upstairs living room with a fireplace for chillier evenings. Casa Bruna has a small but fully integrated kitchen and living space, a beautiful window in an old stone wall and a splendid beamed ceiling. Bedrooms haven’t been skimped on in either case: you’ll sleep peacefully in rooms with views on brand new mattresses with the finest cotton, upcycled furniture and bedheads and brand new, compact bathrooms. Spill out into the shared garden and salt water pool, doze on a lounger, barbecue your supper, or amble into town for the local restaurant. Visit medieval Besalú, ride in a hot air balloon.

Reviews

This beautiful and lovingly restored quaint village house was a great find and exactly as expected from website details. The village is small and peaceful with friendly locals where you can buy fresh bread and dine on local delicacies. Evening food is only available on Saturday nights but both Olot and Ripoll are nearby for supermarkets. The surrounding areas are great for walking and we were able to swim in rock pools and see waterfalls. Christina and Albert were perfect hosts, clearly passionare about their new venture. We loved the box of organic vegetables and wine!

We had a great week in this lovely house. El reliquier is an excellent place if you want to have a relaxing and quite holiday. Although the pool and the garden are not very big, we enjoyed them very much. The house is located in a very small but lovely town. We made some beautiful walks through the forest nearby (10' walk from the house). The house itself is a real charm. Very elegantly decorated and perfectly equipped. There even was a large welcome basket with fresh vegetables from the owner's vegetable garden when we arrived. We highly recommend!

Ine, Antwerp

Well restored country house that keeps its old spirit. Inside its thick walls there is a good balance between traditional furniture and modern appliances, all combined with good taste. During the hottest hours of the day we appreciated the backyard, with some fresh shades and the swimming pool. The kids loved it.
