Apartment in Madrid

Airy apartment in a trendy, non-touristy quarter of Madrid, with plenty of shops, restaurants and things to see nearby

2 beds

2 bedrooms

Sleeps 4

Your apartment is set on the third floor of a 19th-century red-brick building in the Chueca neighbourhood, on a quiet street with the main square a three-minute walk away.

The interior is well-designed, with large windows to let in plenty of light and a spacious dining table seating eight – cook for yourself with produce from nearby Barcelo open-air market or try Bogota, just 50 yards down the road, for traditional Spanish cuisine.

The area is popular with locals – find plenty of interesting shops, restaurants, late-night bars and clubs in the narrow streets around the apartment. You can walk to attractions such as Retiro Park and the Reina Sofia Museum, and Metro Santa Barbara is less than five minutes away.

I love the "Justicia" area of Madrid: attractive, comfortable, non-touristy, full of shops, bars and restaurants. Best of all, most of the interesting sights and areas in Madrid are accessible by foot. The flat is wonderful, light, spacious and fully equipped in an attractive building. A perfect place from which to explore this magnificent city.

The neighbourhood

Chueca is the centre of the city’s gay scene – the famous Pride festival takes place here every June and July – but is also known for having some of the best restaurants and nightlife in the city. You’ll also find interesting shops in the narrow streets around Plaza de Cheuca, a three-minute walk away, as well as on Calle Fuencarral and Calle Hortaleza – fashion boutiques, interior design shops and bookshops.
