The Experience

Catherine’s peaceful eco-lodge is a short distance from the coast between Valencia and Alicante and has an exotic feel, with bedrooms scattered between four brightly coloured houses. Each has a kitchen and private terrace, and the fifth property has a shared kitchen where you can cook, share a drink and chat with other guests.

Spend dreamy days outside: by the swimming pool listening to birdsong; wandering through avocado, lychee, mango and guava trees in the orchard; visiting the chickens and goats at the back of the garden or the turtles in the little pond. Time your visit and you can join one of Catherine’s yoga or Ayurvedic retreats.

The sandy beaches of Dénia and Xàbia are about a 20-minute drive – go scuba diving, kite surfing or rent a boat with a skipper. Taste wines straight from the barrel at Xaló in the Jalon Valley, explore the region’s Moorish past and unique cuisine (there are 10 Michelin stars nearby), or hike the mountains.

The neighbourhood

The property is set down a small street at the foot of a mountain. The nearest grocery store is in walking distance in the village, or you can drive 5 minutes to the nearest supermarket or 20 minutes to the local market. A fine dining restaurant, Un Cuiner a L´Escoleta de Sagra, is only a five-minute walk away. Sagra is busy all year around with carnivals and parades.

Local points of interest from Catherine De Luze

  • This is a gastronomic region, with a very good restaurant in the village of Sagra, 5 minutes' walk and many others in the vicinity.
  • We are at the foot of the mountains, so all kinds of hiking are accessible - and for all levels. There are many paths traced with prehistoric caves and rock paintings.
  • El Botanico is the ideal starting point for all lovers of cycling and mountain biking.
  • For market-goers there are some in all the surrounding villages, ranging from the more traditional to flea markets.
  • For beach lovers, several sandy beaches and magnificent coves with crystal clear waters are accessible to our visitors. We can also organize skippered boat trips by reservation.
  • Try a cultural tour of Valencia or Alicante, or smaller villages such as Altea.

Catherine De Luze

Catherine lives in one of the houses with her black Labrador and a cat, and runs the property along with her friendly colleague Corinne. She comes from a family of wine producers in Bordeaux, and after her children grew up she moved to Spain. As a yoga teacher she wanted to find a place where she could teach and host yoga retreats, and decided to open up the houses for self-catering too.
