The
Experience

You’re on the southern fringes of the built-up resort of Oropesa del Mar but close to the best parts: two sandy beaches, a yachting marina and a picturesque pine forest for clifftop walks.Juan and his sister Asuncion will be on hand to greet you and can arrange airport pickups if required. From the front of the house, you’ll cross a quiet road and then be straight onto the sand; umbrellas and recliners are provided and there’s a calm cove for swimming.Watch the sunset from the spacious front loggia or the roof terrace and gather for meals in the circular dining room. Stroll to restaurants and shops in the town in ten minutes or drive thirty minutes to the provincial capital, Castellón de la Plana.

Location

The neighbourhood

Oropesa del Mar is a typically built-up Spanish resort and the house is surrounded by apartments on two sides, but the attractive old quarter has a number of historic buildings, such as the ruins of the Arab castle that dominates the skyline and the Church of the Virgen de Paciencia (Our Lady of All Patience) which is known for its exquisite tilework. The resort itself has plenty of places to eat and small shops for stocking up.

Local points of interest from Juan Arizo

  • Green way along the coast between Oropesa and Benicassim
  • Columbretes Island with vessels leaving just from Oropesa Yacht club, only 300 meters from Villa Socarrat
  • Desierto de Las Palmas Natural Park

Introducing

Juan Arizo

The house was originally built for the Arizo family, and although Juan and his sister Asuncion do not live on-site they are very hands on hosts and are readily available for problem solving and guidance.
