The Experience

The family behind The Ebrington Arms has renovated this 17th-century inn, around the corner from Blenheim Palace, to its former glory with beautifully restored bedrooms too. Wood floors sweep from side bar to main bar to dining room, burners in brick fireplaces belt out heat and the set menu is a steal. Smiling staff ferry own-brewed Yubby Bitter, Goldie and Yawnie to locals, dog walkers and drinkers; the rest are here for the food: roast venison and faggot croquette with beetroot dauphinoise, kale and juniper; blackberry and frangipane tart. And the best chips in Oxfordshire! The pub won three stars from the Soil Association for its commitment to organic food but you’ll also find organic wine. There’s a nifty selection of malt whiskies, or try a pint of their home-brewed in the garden. Bedrooms are upstairs and down – all have original art, handmade sturdy beds and the softest linen. Muted tartan blankets keep you warm and there are organic toiletries and roll top baths.

Reviews

The Killy was a delightful experience and the food was sublime. The head chef, Adam, has created a superb menu, full of organic ingredients. Our bedroom, in the adjoining stable block, was comfortable (complimentary sherry and bottled water was a nice touch).

Local points of interest from Claire & Jim Alexander

  • Sir Winston Churchill used to prop up the bar at 'The Killy' when he resided at Blenheim Palace round the corner. Stay with us and get cheaper tickets to the palace & grounds.
  • Independently owned for 9 years by the team behind The Ebrington Arms. Foodie heaven with consistent Michelin Guide Recommendations & 2 AA Rosettes held for the past 6 years.
  • The pub is perfectly placed for cultural days out in Oxford or shopping at Bicester and Daylesford before returning to a country foodie pub with style. Cotswolds at its best.
  • We’ve been Oxford Mail’s Restaurant of the Year and their Pub of the Year, and have just renovated a new vaulted dining space in 2021.
  • 3 Stars Organic award from Soil Association - so expect most of our meat to be organic and vegans to be catered for. We have organic toiletries in the bedrooms too and strive to source as ethically as possible thoughout our pub.
  • Two dog friendly rooms (3&4). All bedrooms are in the adjoining stable block so best of both worlds - the buzz of the pub then peace next door in your bedroom.
