The Experience

Snooze soundly in your air-conditioned bedroom, each one is decorated in its own palette – moody blues in the Snugs, leafy greens in the Comfy rooms and deep aubergine for Fancy. Some have freestanding baths and treetop views, all have pillowy beds with fine linens, Bramley toiletries, and a plate of sweet treats on arrival.

The building’s red-brick façade and classical pediment gives it a stately presence on the High Street, while inside it’s all squashy sofas, rich fabrics and eclectic prints. Order a pint from local Rebellion Brewery or settle in for dinner – Raymond Blanc’s seasonal menu presents polished pub favourites alongside more inventive dishes.

A terrace out the back is pleasantly tucked away from the bustle and catches the afternoon sun. Wander through peaceful Higginson Park – the Thames is just beyond. It’s an easy stroll to Tom Kerridge’s Michelin-starred restaurant, The Hand & Flowers, for a memorable meal.

Reviews

A former budget hotel redesigned and reinvented by Heartwood Inns as a stylish pub with rooms in 2025. It enjoys a cracking town location, just a short stroll from the river Thames and affluent Marlow's thriving independent shopping and restaurant scene, and smart, air-conditioned rooms provide a comfortable base for exploring the Thames Valley, with Cliveden House and Henley a short drive away.
